CHECK MY OTHER AUCTIONS...ATTENTION BRIDGESTONE COLLECTORS!!...This Bridgestone 200 was purchased from an older woman whose husband had passed away. He had owned the bike since new. His father bought for him when he was young, so this bike has remained in the same family all this time. It has been stored indoors and the motor was periodically turned over while in storage. I installed a new battery and rinsed out the tank. I cleaned the petcock and installed new spark plugs. I went to clean the carburetors and was pleasantly surprised when I found them to be perfectly clean. They must of been cleaned before storage long ago. This bike was last licensed in 1977 is showing a little over 4500 miles. The needle on the speedometer is missing so I purchased a brand-new NOS speedometer to go with this bike. The bike runs very well revs up cleanly with a quick throttle response in a very quiet motor with no noisy piston slap. I shot the video of this bike before it's initial ride, so it sounds even better than the video. Judging by the nice amount of smoke the oil injection system is working fine. For those not familiar these bikes were unusual because of their dual transmission type. Throw the lever on the side of the motor one way and it is a four-speed Rotary transmission with the lever switched the other way it is a traditional five-speed 1 down 4 up transmission. This is being sold with a bill of sale only. The lady had the registration but could not find the title. ( That is why this is listed as reconstructed ) She went to the courthouse and they said they only keep records for so many years and then they throw stuff away. Today is the first day I've ridden this bike and the more I road it the better it ran. The Rotary transmission seems to be working fine and although the lever moves smoothly back and forth I never really seem to get it to work in the five-speed mode. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if this just needs to get its juices flowing before it starts working in that mode. The bike has beautiful paint and nice seat with no rips or tears. The exhaust has its baffle in the original toolkit still in place. The flaws I see on this bike are.. This could use some new rubber intake parts which are always cracked by now on these types of bikes... but they do make new reproductions. There is a small ding in the back rim which is the kind that goes "out" instead of "in" so it could probably be knocked back in with a hammer and block of wood. The steering bearings have a dead spot in the center from sitting for so long. The lights, horn, high beam, low beam, neutral light, blinkers, brake light, tail light, everything works. Clutch and brakes feel fine. The 200's are very quick for their size. There are some small chips on the oil tank as seen in the photos and a small crack in the metal battery cover mounting hole to the edge of the cover. it is not noticeable and does not affect the integrity of the cover. This is not a perfect museum piece, so if you are expecting a like new bike...look elsewhere. This is however a real survivor and is in great shape for it's age, in my opinion.
