Vehicle Detail
This is the rarest 2500 Sprinter model 118" wheel base 196 inches long van.It is a multi-purpose combination camper, 6 passenger people hauler and a go getter secure storage cargo van which can accommodate nearly 10 foot items in its upper ceiling storage bin.It is ideal for both city and long distance driving. This edition of the Sprinter models is 7 inches narrower than the 2007-2018 models. It is well suited for urban food store parking lots with its tight 36.1 ft (18.3 radius) curb to curb turning that will even effortlessly steer into those purposely narrow marked slots at the Health food outlets. It is as fast as a modern car with its 411 rear axle and well functioning turbo charger that if floored will pin you to the back of the seat at any speed up to 80 MPH and still deliver 20-24 MPH. Of course we don't drive that way. The diesel motor has great engine braking and the transmission has an easy side tap down shift feature that will slow you some more to go down or to go up power for those Tennessee Smokey Mountains. The down shift feature will GREATLY extend the service life of your brakes. At the time we sought to purchase this vehicle Car Fax, Auto Check and the Chrysler Service Records indicated one (1) owner, a Scottsdale Flower Shop. The last service for the flower shop was 11-16-2010 at 152103 miles. However, by the time we actually did obtain the vehicle, it was retailed out of Scottsdale Auto Center on 4-02-2011 with 156043 miles. I assume that the other two owners were the pass-through auto auction and the owner of the service shop who put the other 3940 miles on the vehicle. The vehicle arrived by transport with five(5) P225/70SR15.0BSW All Season tires. They gave us a consistent 21 to 26 MPH but they were unsuitable for Wisconsin winters so we installed the present LT215/75 R15 BSW aggressive tread Blizzack style 5 tires. The new tires gave less fuel mileage and a bit more road noise but provided tremendous traction. The 5 tires were rotated every 10K. They still have a few thousands of miles left but they need to be replaced. We have continued the dealer service tradition with 10k oil/filter changes and other routine maintenance. Here is a summary of most of the parts and procedures done to this van: 2017- New windshield. new drivers wiper arm, hood/engine weathertight seal, eliminated all body rust spots and repainted the vehicle in universal white bonding primer (a dead ringer replacement for MB 9147, Artic White). Yes, even Arizona vehicles will develop some surface rust after a few Wisconsin winters. Replaced some badge emblems and hood chrome trim which received the Artic White base coat also, replaced bumper moldings, fuel filter, alternator, sway bushings and an AC flush. 2016- Battery, cooler hose. 2015-Lower Cabin Filter, Upper Cabin Filter (not installed), Regular Maintenance. 2014- brake service, engine belt, resistor, turbo resonator, shifter sensor. 2013-Front stuts, springs replaced, ball joints, power steering flush, passenger seat belt re-tractor 2012- glow plugs, rear shocks, module, back up camera (after market), 2011-replace grill,5 tires, mud flaps, Nudge bar, rear door security screens, Trailer hitch, rear lock hasp, replace turbo charger, inter-cooler hose and waste gate hose, 4 used Sprinter passenger seats, spare tire mount, key, nozzle. Attempts to repair but not successfully completed: Day time odometer light ,it is dim( night illumination fine), and Upper Cabin Filter Cover disintegrating, needs replacement, can not replace Cabin Filter without destroying cover. Otherwise, no other mechanical issue and no accidents. Available to you at the time of purchase are all items pictured, except rear donut lock and current license plates, including a summary of parts and services, Dodge Parts List Manual, Mercedes Sprinter Service Manual and 2004 Dodge Owners Manual. On Dec-06-17 at 13:17:35 PST, seller added the following information: Some questions were asked and I replied but they are not posting. They are as follows: Question 1- So the van is in good running condition? Are there any recent check engine lights or codes? Answer. Absolutely,no issues! This the wife's daily driver. She has service done by "The Book", that is the service interval recommendations manual. We drive it from Wisconsin to Florida each February. Our beef is that the small local city Dodge dealers no longer have a Sprinter mechanic since they now have their own brand van, Promaster. To get expert qualified service we are needing to drive more miles to a Dodge Truck Center Dealership, a Freightliner Facility or the Mercedes Benz Garage. It is a 12-20 mile trip instead of a 6 mile trip for service.I understand your concerns. Most listings are a list of factory features that do not reveal the actual daily driving experience. My wife wanted this van set up for her enjoyment- seats for the grandchildren, a secure storage partition and shelving for her recreation items and travel luggage. Question 2 & 3 combined- Last night there was a BUY IT NOW option, I didn't jump on it, now there are bids on it. What happened to the BUY IT NOW? Combined answer for 2 & 3- Ebay rule restrictions can not be changed (reversed). There was no reserve so the first actual bidder can knock off the the BUY IT NOW Feature. The bidder wanted the van but did not want to pay the BUY IT NOW price. You still have a great opportunity to obtain this van. You may even be able to get the van for less that the original BUY IT NOW price by being the high bidder. You can bid into the auction at anytime but the selling bid will be the highest bid determined when the auction ends on Friday, December 15 at 8:15 PST On Dec-11-17 at 01:30:46 PST, seller added the following information: Another question was answered but did not post. Question-Why such a low score(52) for this vehicle? Answer- The rating is a bogus comparison. Here is why: Read the fine print of the rating. This is not an apples to apples comparison of like same vehicles. They are comparing the shortest chassis 118 WB Sprinter to the largest full size chassis (of the 2002-06 generation) that is the 158 WB van on the body style criteria basis-cargo van.I stated that this was also a passenger and a camper van, in addition to a cargo van. I called it a multi-purpose van because it has greater use and and utility than a straight full size cargo van. A second reason to discount the rating is - rarity. The 118 WB is the very rarest Sprinter of all time ever manufactured and the 158 WB is the very most common for the first generation Sprinters. True statement: There are Dodge dealerships that have never sold a shorty Sprinter, never serviced one and never seen one. They have dealt only with full size Sprinters. I also attached a photo( but it didn't post) that would completely illustrate the point of my disagreement on the rating. The photo has my full size cargo service van next to this shorty van. My grandchildren enjoy crawling into the partitioned tool area but they can not ride in a two seat Sprinter; they ride in grandma's van. The picture clearly shows the vast difference in appearance and purpose between these vans. Why the low rating? How about ignorance of size differences in the Sprinter models, perhaps a bias toward better known larger vans and most definitely an undisciplined laziness with statistical method in determining a number score. On Dec-13-17 at 23:04:20 PST, seller added the following information: Additional questions: Engine and Transmission condition-Injector repair, maintenance.? Transmission repaired? Condition of wiring? Answer-Engine-Injectors declared operating as designed no change since, checked with other 2011 engine service. 2012-glow plugs replaced,2013 water pump,2014 Serpentine belt 2015 turbo resonator, turbo oil line replaced. Transmission- 2011 fluid, filter, guide bushing replaced. 2014 shift sensor. Electrical-no wiring problems stated- various modules, switches, replaced multi-switch & wiper module 2012 & 2016. If the seats and partition were removed would there be 10 feet of cargo space? Answer-Yes, the top part of the partition is behind the front seats and the lower part is behind the rear seats. Also a concern about uneven tire wear on right front was expressed.. Response- The other tires are much better. The front end is within proper alignment specs. This was the tire that clued us to have the springs, struts and all ball joints replaced in 2013 at 183,794 mi. That was a huge expense but it vastly improved the road-ability of the van at highway speeds. The tire/wheel was still part of the rotation but It should not have been on the vehicle as a driving wheel. It now has been swapped with the spare tire in photo # 15. That photo that beats down the Auto Check Rating Comparison of the size and function of our shorty van next to my full size service van did post as the 24th photo. Also a matching step stirrup has been installed on the drivers side.
