Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 1967 Chrysler Newport convertible. Sold new at Mullen Motors in Southampton, NY. Its finished in code EE1 Regal Blue poly. Its been in the same family since new. The original owner has since passed away and I was asked to sell it for the family. Its equipped with the standard 270HP 383 2bbl engine and automatic transmission. It has power windows, power steering and power brakes. Interior is white with factory equipped bucket seats. The car is original and unrestored showing 123,xxx miles. I'll try and go over some of the major points- Body- Overall its in decent shape. It looks like its had a re-paint at some point in its life. The paint is shiny and at first glance looks nice. But when you start to look at it up close, you can see that there are plenty of little nicks, chips, scratches, dings and blemishes in the finish. The hood and trunk show some slight fading. The major issue on the body is that there is rust bubbling over the rear skirts on both sides of the quarter panels. The fenders and doors are remarkably clean. The bumpers are nice and shiny and present well. From my examination, it doesn't look like this car was ever involved in an accident. All panel look to be original and I see no evidence of any major bodywork. The floors look solid from underneath. The trunk floor is pretty crusty. There are rudimentary fiberglass repairs on both sides of the trunk floor and there is a small hole on the right side of the trunk pan just above where the rear frame rail is. None of it is structural in nature. The top is bright white and clean with no rips or tears. It goes up and down as it should. The only area on the top that needs attention is the area below the rear window. Its torn as is the well below it. So it will eventually need a new glass window and well Engine and driveline- The 383 runs but runs a little rough. The carb is leaking a little fuel through the throttle shafts. The steering box has a leak. When you start the engine, you can hear a slight exhaust leak coming from the donut gasket. None of this prevents the car from being used as is, but at some point, these items will need to be addressed. The car has a brand new $550 brass copper radiator with a high efficiency core. It also has new hoses and a thermostat. The car is currently used periodically. Brakes, steering and suspension are all in good shape. Tires are good. Recently passed NY state inspection. There are some assorted parts that I will include with the car- things like a new fuel pump, a spare carburetor, relay, a factory Mopar air filter, and some other odds and ends Interior- The interior is presentable and is in decent shape for an almost 50 year old convertible. It has the very rare bucket seat option. Carpets look new. Dash pad has the usual cracks. Rear seat speaker grill dented. Carpet coverings on bucket seat backs are faded badly. Overall, the interior is usable as is. With a little elbow grease, a can of SEM vinyl dye and some new plastic chrome items, you could really spiff it up. The manual vent windows work well. The only power window that operates seems to be the drivers window. I haven't looked into it, but I have a feeing the contacts are NG on the switches. I have 46 various pictures of the car in a Photobucket album here----> http://s482.photobucket.com/user/mr-trishield/library/67%20Chrysler Overall its a decent old convertible that car be used as is from day one as you fix it up. Like any 50 year old car, its got its share of issues that need to be addressed and I could probably write a book covering every detail of its condition. If there is something I didn't cover about the car, or if you need more pictures or closeups, please ask! I will answer every question to the best of my ability. Buying a car sight unseen is NEVER a good idea and I don't recommend it. If your within driving distance, I would encourage you to come see the car in person. Or arrange to have someone come by and look at it on your behalf. Although the car runs and drives well, Im not sure I would trust it on a long trip. I would highly recommend that you trailer the car home as a precaution. The car is located on the south shore of Long Island approx. 55 miles east of NYC. As an FYI for out of state buyers- NY state does not issue titles for cars older than 1973. Cars that are 1972 and older get a transferrable registration. I sign the back and give it to the new owner. Please research this for yourself so there isn't any confusion when the time comes. I require a $200 non refundable deposit within 24 hours of close of auction. Car is to be picked up within 10 days of close of auction unless other arraignments are made beforehand . Balance to be paid in cash on pickup. Please only bid if you have the money readily available. As I said, if you have any questions about anything, please email me. Thank you and good luck! I hope she goes to a good home.
