Vehicle Detail

To start with, let me first say that I am selling this 1969 Custom Blazer for a very nice lady who lives near me and does not do eBay. I do understand that there is a lot of information/photos/video in my ad. I also understand that this may be boring to the person who is just looking and not buying. However, for the person who is looking to buy and spend their hard earned money, I feel that there is never too much information or too many photos and videos. As to myself, I am not a dealer, just a (65) year old kid that loves muscle cars. I have owned more than 70 muscle cars myself since the early 70’s. For my work, I recently retired from managing a Correctional Facility here in Maine and had worked for the Maine Department of Corrections for (40) years. I am also a respected member of my community. I mention this only so that prospective buyers will have some idea as to who they are dealing with. Also, please check out my eBay feedback which is 100% with (1,123) transactions having sold cars all over the country as well as Canada, England, Switzerland and Australia. A Little Chevrolet Blazer History: 1969 Chevrolet K5 Blazer was the rarest of all '69-72 Blazers. All were 4WD the first year and this is one of only 4,935 ever made that year. 1967 saw the introduction of a new generation of Chevy trucks, including the Suburban, now with an extra passenger door (presumably in reaction to the IHC Travelall, which also had three doors.) GM brought out a short-wheelbase, two-door (topless) version of their truck line called the Blazer in 1969, marking the beginning of the history of the Blazer name. (GMC enthusiasts will note that the Jimmy nameplate didn't start life until 1970 -- and I hear that 2WD models weren't available until 1970 as well.) This first generation Blazer shared much of the mechanical underpinnings and bodywork of the pickups and Suburbans of its era. Like the Suburban, the interior was open from the cab area to the cargo space in the rear, but like the pickup, the cargo area was uncovered. In fact, the cab area was uncovered to boot -- it was fully topless. Suspension and power-train options were taken from the half-ton level; to get a higher GVWR one would have to go to a Suburban (which was offered in 1/2 and 3/4 ton) or pickup (1/2, 3/4 and 1-ton.) Early marketing collateral represents the Blazer as a utility vehicle, for hunting or camping, and as a 'fun' vehicle -- for beach trips & the like. While most were sold with a hardtop and fully configured, the base model Blazer came only with a seat for the driver. The passenger and rear seats -- and the top -- were all "optional". Soft-tops were also available. Four wheel drive was popular, but two wheel drive was available for those folks who didn't need the extra traction. Eagle-eyed enthusiasts will note that the Blazer was badged as a "K-5" model but all of Chevy's paperwork calls them a “K-10”. Go figure…. How This Blazer Pickup Came to Be: In 1969, a gentleman went into a Chevrolet dealership and purchased the new for 1969, Chevrolet Blazer. He drove the Blazer for 10 years and then decided he wanted to take the Blazer to the car shows and win some trophies. He thought that as a stock 1969 Blazer, he would probably not win a lot of trophies so he decided to do some fabrication and modifications to make his Blazer more noticeable and showable. Luckily, he was a professional body man and mechanic and all of the work that would go into the Blazer would be completed by himself. Countless hours and a considerable amount of money later, his 1969 Blazer Pickup was unveiled at the local car show and he was rewarded with a first place trophy in the truck division. All of his time and effort to produce a unique Blazer Pickup had paid off and continued to pay off as he racked up 56 trophies in the truck division of car shows before deciding to let his creation go in 2001, at the annual Owls Head Auto Auction. He had owned the 1969 Blazer for 32 years and his labor of love was now going to a new owner. That is where the current owner comes in as she was the high bidder and has now owned the Blazer for the past 14 years. Driving the pickup only occasionally and never in inclement weather, the current owner has now decided to part with the Blazer in hopes that the next owner will spend more time enjoying it. That is where I come in and hence this ad to sell her pride and joy. This 1969 Blazer pickup starts, runs, handles and brakes outstanding. All gauges, interior and exterior lights work. This is simply a no excuses, wicked nice and a one-off rare pickup, and I urge any perspective buyer to read the entire ad, look at all of the photos and the video and decide for themselves whether this is what they want and need. Check out the video here:     VIN Number: BKE149S865409 Vin Number Decode: B Blazer K 4 x 4 E V8 Engine 1 ½ Ton 4 Pickup 9 1969 S St. Louis Assembly Plant 865409 Vehicle Serial Number Exterior: The Blazer’s paint is considered by me to be a 10 footer. The paint looks outstanding when you see the truck going down the road and is a real eye grabber. However, on closer inspection, you can see some fading, some stains and some checking in the paint which I believe is probably lacquer paint from the early 80’s. That would make sense to me as I have seen this type of checking on other older cars that were painted in lacquer. The glass is all excellent and the chrome and bright work is in very good condition. All lights and blinkers are in working condition. Excellent “Wild Trac Radial RVT” tires on chrome rims that have some pitting and are considered to be in good driver quality condition. The truck bed is wood that has been cleared and is in very good condition. The truck does have very nice wood rails on either side of the bed. Interior: The Blazer has a beautiful tuck-n-roll bench seat which is extremely comfortable to sit in while driving. The carpet is in very good condition as well. The dash is excellent with no cracks or rips. The red interior paint is excellent as are the black door panels. The gauge cluster is in good condition with all gauges working to include the speedometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge and battery gauge. The horn and wipers are working. The Audiovox AM/FM radio works and there is a Mustang Graphic Equalizer that I assume is also working. The heater is in working condition. The windows have no cracks or scratches and work fine. There is a functional Moon Roof and sliding rear window. Engine: The truck has a 350ci engine with a 3-speed on the column, manual shifter. The engine compartment is very detailed with custom paint on the fan shroud and heater enclosure. The underside of the hood is in excellent condition. The engine starts and runs excellent with no leaking, dripping or funny noises noted. The 3-speed transmission shifts up and down with ease and does have syncro downshifting into first gear. Visually, the engine compartment is show ready with the exception of a needing new chrome air cleaner lid. (Maybe $10.00) Undercarriage: The undercarriage is in very good shape and virtually rust free. All brake and fuel lines are intact. There is a hydraulic steering stabilizer installed. Upon inspection, I see no drips or serious rust areas. Misc. Photos: VIN Decode Photo: I am an individual and do not claim to know everything there is to know about these cars. It is your responsibility to ensure that all of you questions or concerns are resolved prior to bidding and not after. WINNING BIDDER DOES NOT HAVE THE OPTION TO LOOK THIS PICKUP OVER AFTER THE AUCTION CLOSES TO DETERMINE WHETHER OR NOT THEY WANT TO BUY. ALL INSPECTIONS "MUST" BE DONE PRIOR TO THE CLOSE OF THE AUCTION WITH NO EXCEPTIONS. In fairness to all, I am not revealing the reserve price. If you are interested in owning this Blazer, please place a bid TO OWN ONLY AND NOT TO PASS TIME. If it does not make reserve, I may contact the high bidder depending on what the highest amount was on the last bid. Terms of Sale This pre-owned vehicle is being sold "as-is, where is" with absolutely no warranties and/or guarantees either expressed or implied. A $500 non-refundable deposit is required at the close of the auction via Paypal. (If you do not have Paypal let me know through eBay ASAP.) FYI: There is no Maine title for this 1969 Chevrolet Blazer as Maine does not issue titles for vehicles that are more than (15) years old. I have sold cars all over the country as well as Canada, England, Switzerland and Australia and have never had a problem. The car will come with a Bill-of-Sale, the Maine registration signed over to the new owner and a copy of the Maine law regarding titles which is on a form issued by the Maine Motor Vehicle Department THANKS FOR READING THIS LENGTHY AD. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BIDDING.
