What we have here is a race car specifically built for CHUMPCAR. It could also be used as a drag racer, but if you think you are going to restore this into a functional legal street car again, stop reading now. There is NO title, it can only be a race car. If you want to have a lot of fun with your buddies racing Chump or Lemons, and you are an air-cooled VW nut, this is for you. This is a 1963 or so Ghia on a THING pan, so it is IRS. It has 4 wheel disc brakes, an 11 gallon fuel cell, sway bars front and rear, and a fantastic cage. The cage has NASCAR type intrusion bars on both sides, so a passenger seat could be installed. Currently, only the battery resides there. This car ran 1 fifteen hour endurance race, and had very few problems considering it was the first time it had been driven in twenty years. The handling is very good, the brakes are excellent, and the power from the 1835 in the car at that time was about mid pack. We were passed on the straight by half the cars, but we could pass them back in the curves. This car also ran at Bonneville, and ran 122 mph. I know you don’t think that’s much, but unless you’ve run Bonneville, you can’t appreciate how good that is. The car has passed Chumpcar tech, USFRA tech, and has a Chumpcar logbook. You can make this car however fast you want because there is NO engine. It is a roller, completely ready to race except for engine and new tires.Some of the pictures: 2 Volvo mirrors act like a Wink Mirror. Picture of engine bay to show bay only, there is no engine. Kirkey race seat and very nice 5 point belts. I don't have a picture of the fuel cell for some reason.Cage has a vertical bar to the tunnel front and rear, and is welded to the body about every 18 inches. The upper gauge cluster is not included, they were all boost related for Bonneville. Berg shifter not included, you can choose from either the salt flat wheels with USFRA legal covers, or the white spoke steel wheels. The steering column is adjustable for length, but we had more than 1 steering wheel instead. There is a notebook with all the information about the car, alignment settings, parts list, to do lists, etc. There is currently a patch over it, but the hood has a hole so you can refuel without opening the hood.
