Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a used, 1965 'VOLKSWAGEN CAMPER' in fair, running condition to be restored......This northern California bus with black plates is currently registered as 'non-operational' with a clear title in my name. I am the second owner and have owned it for the last seven (7) years.....my plan was to restore it. Nothing has been replaced or removed from this bus. Original paint. Overall condition is 'FAIR' as follows: the nose has never been hit and is in very good, solid condition, with a few 'very small' dents, no rust on the bottom behind bumper, but has rust on the bottom of the left window frame. The top has surface rust only, drip rails are good, no rust-out. Body damage is limited below the belt line....starting on the passenger side front door, with a large, repairable dent on the lower part of the door, right dogleg fair, cargo doors also have 'repairable' dents / creases on the lower part and then damage pass the left cargo door, before the wheel well....it appears the driver struck something on the lower front, passenger side door, and continued... causing the damage. Special note: all damaged doors can be repaired with very little body work. Both rear corners have dents, but nothing that can't be worked out. When I acquired this vehicle their was no deck lid or apron, however I bought a decent deck lid, at a swap meet, and a friend gave me an apron (it turned out to be an early apron - my plan was to swap it out.) Rear hatch is fair, no major dents or rust issues.....drivers side: door in good condition...dogleg good, major damage to long panel, just in front of the wheel well....not sure what happened there, just kinda wrinkled up....just looking at it, I don't believe the panel needs to be replaced, but you be the judge. Both rockers appear to be solid, no rust that I can see. Jack ports are solid. Both 'original bumpers' are complete (overrider bars / splash guards.) All glass is original, front left windshield is cracked, both front doors have original glass, including vent windows, rear hatch glass good....jalousie windows are there and salvageable. I managed to find three jalousie windows, with inside trim and screens at a local swap meet and they will go with this vehicle. Looking under this vehicle, other than the front floor, it's solid....no rust issues that I can see. Now the inside: This is a 'walk-thru' camper and everything appears to be original equipment, the dash is un-cut, original steering wheel, horn button, original wiring harness in good condition, but not everything is working. Drivers side floor will need to be replaced, very thin & rusted out. Passenger side looks a little better, but I would replace. Passenger door inside mechanism and handle have been removed, but comes with vehicle. Drivers seat is bare, passenger seat has the original upholstery, but needs to be replaced. I have a new set of front seat 'hair pads' for both seats from Wolfsburg West that will come with this vehicle. Comes with the original camper interior in fair condition. Original wood headliner, with paperboard headliner in the cab area. Storage compartments are fair. The bed still works very well, the ice box is good, something is wrong with the pump (no water comes out)...the folding table, complete with the extension leaf is in good condition. The floor still has the original linoleum on it. Original 15" steel wheels are on the vehicle now, plus hubcaps.....tires are old, but fair to drive until replaced. The motor is a stock 1600, DP with a new German muffler....I recently put in new plugs and adjusted the values, changed the oil and it runs fine. I went through the brakes about two years ago, I had the drums turned down, new brake shoes, new springs & wheel cylinders all around so the breaks are good. I put new shocks on as well. To be clear, this is a very solid and completely stock, running, walk-thru camper to be restored. Please review all pictures, if you have any questions, please email. This vehicle is located in San Jose, California and is being sold AS-IS and where-is. If you would like to see this vehicle, please contact me at 408 294 9789, between 12:00 noon and 5:00 p.m. (PST) to make an appointment. Buyer to make arrangements to pick-up the vehicle with-in one week after purchase. Overseas buyers welcome. While I cannot move the vehicle myself, I can assist your shipper. Successful bidder will be required to deposit $500 (plus Paypal fees) with-in 24 hours of close of auction and the balance with-in seven (7) days after close of auction. On Dec-11-14 at 17:18:10 PST, seller added the following information: 12/11....I'm revising my listing to include the following: Two (2) very nice, dent free, bare cargo doors and a very nice dent free passenger door (lower half only) plus five (5) 'CROW FOOT' power coated rims as seen in the last picture. Four rims are mounted on new tires and one rim is loose (for the spare tire). I bought the doors when I bought the bus because I wanted to do as little body work as possible. Please note: My plan is to put all parts INSIDE the bus for shipping....as the buyer it is your responsibility to confirm with YOUR SHIPPER if it will be acceptable and your responsibility for any additional shipping fees..... before bidding. After talking to a few local shippers, some said it was no problem, others said they do not allow anything to be shipped inside the vehicle.
