XK 3.8L 6 Cylinder Engine! Automatic Transmission! MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present the 1961 Jaguar Mark IX you see pictured. The Jaguar you see here is from the dry state of Oklahoma and an exceptional example of Jaguar’s Mark IX flagship sedan. This car epitomizes the Jaguar standard of “Grace, Space and Pace.” This car still looks impressive today! The deep black paintwork highlights the classic design of this “Big Cat.” The paint is in good condition, showing only minor imperfections and scratches; most notable is a blister in the paint on the right front fender – but the car still shows very well. The chrome trim is in great condition with no pitting, dents or major scratches while maintaining a beautiful shine. Both rear fender skirts are in great condition and solid as is the rest of the body. This Jaguar is not perfect but it does show very well! It has been sitting in dry, climate controlled storage for a number of years and will need some sorting out such as an engine tune up, brakes sorted out, fluids changed, ect. Inside, the interior appears to have been reupholstered in the past and it looks great. The seats are wrapped in red leather and allow you to sit deep in the seats to enjoy the ride. The seats do show typical leather wear and creases but still show well with no splits or tears that we have found. Same goes for the comfortable back seat. The backs of the front seats have drop down trays. The matching carpet and red door panels are also in great condition. The headliner is in good condition and does show a little sag on the sunroof panel. The dashboard is finished in gorgeous wood and looks incredible, housing the original Smith’s gauges and steering wheel. It should be noted that the horn and fuel gauge are currently inoperable. The wood trim inside the car looks great with no cracking or fading to any of it. You will find that there is a sunroof, perfect for warm morning drives. Under the hood, you will find a true XK 3.8L, 6 cylinder engine attached to an automatic transmission, shifted through the column. There is also a side draft SU carburetor. Power steering combined with the tried and true XK 3.8 liter engine guide the car along at highway speeds in consummate luxury. The Jag sits upon a set of black painted 16″ steel wheels with chrome Jaguar hub caps wrapped in 6.50-16 white wall tires, which look great!
