Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1984 Honda Ascot VT500FT. Just over 8500 original miles, original Candy Bourgogne Red paint, just a fine, near mint survivor. Everything on this bike is almost showroom condition. Seat has a Travelcade recover, new fork seals, fresh 15W fork oil (best suited for this bike), fresh oil and filter, fresh rear drive oil, fresh coolant, valve adjustment, carbs fully serviced, synced and adjusted, new battery, new tires. This one needs NOTHING until it's next scheduled maintenance. These are highly under appreciated bikes. The Ascot VT500FT light, powerful, nimble, easy to ride, great economy, reliable and almost zero maintenance. 6 speed, 500cc, v-twin, liquid cooled, shaft drive, twin plug per cylinder. Perfect for the beginning rider or seasoned, experienced enthusiast. Top speed is 122 mph and 0 to 60 is roughly 4.3 seconds. This bike carries the same name as the Ascot FT500 but the FT500 is COMPLETELY different. The FT500 is different because it is a single cylinder, air cooled engine, chain link for its drive, and has less power. They are both named the same because they were both used on the Ascot Flat Track in California. The Ascot FT stands for Flat Track in both names. These two bikes may have similar names, but not even the body parts, turn signals, mirrors. fenders, controls, etc. are different including the nuts and bolts. This bike can get 50 to 60 mpg depending on the person's riding habits. The tank and reserve hold 2.5 gallons--just the right amount of driving--right when you are wanting a break. This bike was only made two years 1983 and 1984. Recommended weight limit is 384 load capacity. I stand 5’-11” with a 32” inseam, and it’s comfortable both at a stop sign as well as tooling down the road. At 425lbs, and a relatively low center of gravity, it’s so easy to ride and maneuver. The seat height is 31.5" and ground clearance is 7.2". I’m the creator and webmaster of the Ascot Web Site (est. 1997), and I’m a seasoned, experienced Honda mechanic for the past 23 years. Not to mention, I’m a big enthusiast of these Ascot VT500’s. I’ve had this one in my collection for the past 6 years, and have only ridden it once in a while, to keep things limber. I have gone over every aspect that a 30 year old bike would suffer due to old age, inspected the electrical connections and done, to the best of my ability, make this as issue-free and reliable of a bike as you can buy. I decided to thin my collection, to make room for a classic muscle car I wish to purchase. Although I have another daily driver Ascot I’ve owned since 1991, I’m choosing to sell this Garage Queen, to give it a home to another enthusiast. This one is correct in every way. Hard to find one that's this accurately correct and this nice. Only minor flaws and imperfections here and there, typical of a 5 year old bike, but this one is 30 YEARS OLD! There are some little nicks and light scratches to the tank’s paint. The exhaust still has it’s brilliant black chrome finish, with only a small amount of freckle rust around the head ports. The plastic has almost NO fade, and the paint shines up nicely. I guarantee it will turn heads and be a conversation starter at gas stations and bike shows. IF you don't like the asking price, put in an offer--all reasonable offers will be considered. NOTE: I do not have the capability to crate or prep this for cartage transport. This is a LOCAL PICKUP ONLY. I might be able to arrange temporary storage for up to 30 days, with an agreement in payment and logistics. This must be discussed in advance, prior to purchasing the motorcycle. There is a NON-REFUNDABLE $100 security deposit due within 2 days of purchase, which I can accept via PayPal. The remaining balance is due in CASH at the time of pickup/delivery, which must take place within 2 weeks following date of purchase. I am only available to transact on weekday evenings or most weekends with a two day notice. The buyer has the ability to inspect and test ride the motorcycle, granted the buyer shows a current motorcycle endorsed license, his/her own helmet and cash in full, in hand prior to a ride. The buyer can back out of the transaction at any time, however the buyer forfeits the $100 non-refundable security deposit. The motorcycle is sold AS-IS, with no warranty or guarantee assumed, implied or otherwise. Once the buyer has taken possession of the bike and funds transacted, the motorcycle is then property, and the sole responsibility of the buyer. The Wisconsin title is clear and signed off, ready for the next owner, with no liens listed on the document.
