If you are reading this you are either already familiar with this car or are about to have an a-ha!!!! moment.PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU HAVE LESS THAN 25 TRANSACTIONS ON EBAY AND HAVE LESS THAN 98% POSITIVE FEEDBACK. I WILL CANCEL BIDS FROM SUCH BIDDERS. Please do not buy this car if you are not familiar with performance vehicles. This is not a race car, but is it too much car for a new driver. This is also not a car to be driving in heavy snow. It is a true rear wheel drive sports car, very sturdy for its size but still a light car with 330 horsepower, it is fast.I purchased this car about a year ago after test driving a 2008 viper and 2010 Corvette, both convertibles. I wanted a car that would give me as much excitement as I experience from riding my ducati super bike. I thought the viper was great fun but lacked amenities like power seat and power top. The Corvette was great and would have been in my driveway right now if I hadn't discovered the Crossfire SRT-6. I arranged to test drive an SRT that was for sale locally and was immediately impressed with the ride quality and speed of the car. It has as much excitement as the Corvette at less than half the price. The Corvette quarter mile time is 12.4 seconds compared to the SRT6 quarter mile time of 13.3 seconds. The 2010 Corvette is valued at $34,670 by the Kelley Blue book and the SRT6 is valued at $15,024. So for the price of the downpayment I was about to make on the Corvette I owned an SRT6 that made me every bit as happy. Not to mention the curb appeal and rarity of an SRT6, its subtle good looks garner attention, and, you are likely to be the only one in town to own one. It is also a unique car in that it is a hybrid of German hand built AMG drivetrain and Mopar muscle car genetics. This car will likely hold its value or raise in value over the years unlike the Corvette which will continue to lose value. So now you might ask me: If you love this car so much why are you selling it? And the answer: I liked it so much I bought another just like it. The long story: I bought this one last May, drove it for a month or two and found another with only 16k miles on it. So I bought it intending to garage this one for my son who will turn 16 in a couple years. Unfortunately I am in between jobs and need to sell off some excess items, so this one will go. Besides it may be too much car for a new driver anyways, better safe than sorry. So that's the story. I bought it, loved it, bought a second just like it, now I have to sell it. I can't think of another car that I would spend $15k on that would give as much fun as this, I have owned a Porche 911 targa, MR2 Spyder, a couple Audi tt quatro (nice cars btw) and various other hot rods and such. This car is over all the most fun of the bunch. NOTES ON CONDITION OF CAR: I was told this is the car Chrysler used for their unveiling of the SRT Roadster in 2005, the one they took on tour. I have not tried to validate this. It is different from my other SRT in that it has a limited edition tag on the trunk lid. It has heated seats, Winter and Summer traction package and every other option I think that was available except of the gps. The car is very very very clean as seen in the photos. THE BODY: I am the second owner, the other being a female who had put almost all the miles on the car. I can't claim to know everything about it but will tell you what I do know. I was told it was never repainted and having a good eye for such things I believe it. The paint is very glossy and has only the most minuscule of issues. I see a pinpoint chip literally the size of a pinpoint. Not visible unless I pointed it out. It took me a year to notice it. I had any dings removed by dent doctor a year ago. Since then there are 2 more about half the size of a dime, one in each door each ding can be removed easily by the dent doctor without any alteration to the paint, should only cost $100 for both. The rear bumper is mint the front has a tiny bit of haze on it (very slight) and a slight rub mark where the front license plate will go, it's from the license plate actually and will be covered with yours. I like a clean front so did not mount the plate on the front. The front air dam has a scratch or two from a parking bumper, not very noticeable. The previous owner sprayed the lower front air dam with a hard wax invisible bra for chip prevention. It is not completely invisible in my opinion and tho it does keep the chips down I would prefer to have the chips than the slight texture the wax. I wanted to remove the wax but thought it best to leave that decision to the next owner should that person desire the protection. The headlamp plastic was well maintained throughout its life and thus polishes up very nicely, keep them polished and they should remain very nice. I would give the plastic clarity a 8.5 - 9.0 and considering it is a classic I would rate the plastic clarity a 9.5 as some 5 year old cars can be much worse than this. The photos accurately represent the paint gloss, the headlamp clarity and the cleanliness of the whole care as it is. There has been no retouching of these photos. The car may actually show better in person than in photos. THE INTERIOR: It is nearly mint with a slight abrasion where the passenger seat belt touches the center counsel when moving the seat up and back. It can likely be rubbed away, I will try that next time I am in the car. The seats are excellent, no signs of any wear at all. The carpet is perfect as are the floor matts. The dash and center console look new. The cup holder is fully functional, many people do not know the trick to putting the cup holder away, remind me and I can show the winning bidder. All paperwork is included with the car. THE MOTOR: I bought the car and immediately replaced the water pump for the supercharger as they tend to go bad. I think I put a bosch in there but can't remember. I had a new air filter installed and a full lube service done to it. I think I only put about 4k miles on the cars since I bought it. The battery is very strong, the air conditioning is very cold. There are no rattles, squeaks, or whines of any kind. The mechanics are perfectly sound and flawless. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM: All wiring seems perfect. The front right fog lamp lost its bulb tip, needs a new bulb. The tire pressure warning light stays on, may need a new sensor in one of the wheels, I never looked into it. The stability control light comes on half bright sometimes indicating a need to recalibrate, simply turn the steering wheel fully in both directions and then center it to tell the computer where the center line is and it goes away. Seems like a common thing in those cars. Maybe even deliberate as the stability system in this car is very high tech. The stability system has the ability to correct for under-steer by applying slight braking to any of the four wheels correcting the turning line of the car in mid corner. It is a remarkable system. THE TIRES: I would guess have about half the life left in them. The rear tires seem to have more wear than the front, perhaps because this is a rear wheel drive car. All four wheels had some bits of curb rash on them all of which was either fixed or removed. There are 2 photos showing the worst of the areas about the size of a quarter, not very noticeable from a few feet away. Otherwise the wheels were highly detailed and in excellent shape, not warpage, no white rust or oxidation, no peeling clear coat, no missing center caps. Two of the 4 wheels are missing valve stem caps, which I plan to replace when I can. I would rate the car a 9 plus. It is based on the Mercedes Benz SLK rear wheel drive platform and is actually built in Germany in the plant that produces the current SLK; it even carries their 3.2 liter V6 engine. There is however a little difference in the Crossfire SRT6, “it was breathed on by good old Uncle Sam”. They’ve added a supercharger which enables the vehicle to accelerate from 0-60 mph in about 5 seconds, now that’s exotic car territory! Its SOHC 18 valve engine produces 330 hp and although quiet at low speeds, gives a pleasant growl when the accelerator pedal is pushed. The floor pan is from Mercedes Benz but Uncle Sam strengthened the underside, improving on the MB version and giving it class leading rigidity. The front suspension is a double wishbone setup with gas charged shocks. On the rear, independent coil springs with gas shocks again. This setup might not give the mind blowing handling of a Ferrari , but is more than adequate for the vehicle and supplies a better ride quality than some of its competitors. The car carries 18” wheels up front and 19” on the rear which certainly add a little something to the look of the vehicle. The SRT6 drives like an expensive European sports car, but you are constantly aware that what’s lurking underneath is a little out of the ordinary. No doubt, Chrysler’s exterior design team labored through the nights to bring us this stylish roadster. Uncle Sam’s technical wizards were possibly equally busy, fine tuning it into an awesome hot rod. The SRT 6 does however, boast race-inspired seats trimmed in Nappa Pearl Leather with Alcantara suede inserts and bolsters which glue you to the seat and are just perfect in a car with the performance of the SRT6. The instrumentation layout and illumination is pleasing to the eye and the controls are mostly conveniently placed; it also carries a rather nice stereo system. The SRT6 looks so good with the top down, it should be driven that way, even if the sun is just peeking out, and after all, it carries a great heating system. The 2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 features a hand-built 330-horsepower (246 kW) 3.2-liter supercharged engine, performance-tuned ride and handling characteristics, world-class braking, functional performance-themed exterior design elements, and interior appointments designed to delight the performance enthusiast. Featuring a helical supercharger and a water-to-air intercooler, the 18-valve V-6 engine delivers 90 percent of peak torque across a broad range of the power band — from 2,300 to 6,200 rpm. The SRT signature performance test is 0-100-0 mph, reinforcing that performance is more than acceleration. That’s why SRT vehicles will always be among the world’s best in braking capabilities. To give the Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 remarkably short braking distances and fade-free performance, SRT engineers utilized internally ventilated disc brakes at all four corners (330 x 32 mm front; 300 x 22 mm rear), with dual-piston calipers front (44/44 mm) and rear (42/42 mm).
