up for auction is a kind of barn find. the guy i purchased the car from started restoring the car about 20 years ago and worked on it from time to time, he sent it out to a mustang restoration shop where they did what the guy said was 10,000.00 worth of work, the car is actually two cars in one. the fastback he had was missing the front clip so in the restoration process the installed a mint rust free clip from a coupe (so the front aprons have coupe vin numbers on it) the car was done so well you cant really see where they connected the two cars. i do not know exactly what parts were replaced, but the car is SUPER SOLID WITH ONLY ONE PART THAT SHOWS RUST. the panel inside the trunk . you need to stick you head in the trunk and flip over to see it (see pics) everywhere is rust and rot free. cowl looks solid with surface rust. i have not removed the vent to see if there was rot under it but looks ok. floors are all rot free. i think it has new fenders new full quarters. like i said the car is super solid. you might find 1 or 2 pin holes but nothing a hour cant fix. im just saying that because i could not find any rot other then that inside panel in the trunk. frame rails are perfect. car has new grab a trak rear springs with sway bar. the car was in the shop for a long time. and in that time a lot of the parts went missing, due to theft and the fact that the shop went out of business the guy said. car comes with fat mans front coil over front suspension with power rack n pinion . have willwood brakes new in the box. new ididit stainless steering column with shafts and joints new in box. new fiberglass shelby hood, 1/4 vent door glass, 2 back windows ,nice heater box, headlight doors, hood springs, speaker cover and some other odds and ends. car has a clear north carolina fastback title. BUT NO DOOR TAG (DATA PLATE) that was in one of the boxes that was stolen Vin numbers on aprons do not match title because front clip was from a coupe car rolls and steers just fine. The car if for sale for someone who wants to do something with the car other then make it original. So look at the car as a car with no title and odd vins and a free clear nc 65 fastback title. I just dont want someone to buy it thinking it might be trouble free registering it. Some states it might be trouble free. So the car is really for the guy who does not care about the vin numbers. Before i bought the car i went to the local police station and ran both vins and the fastback came back clear and the coupe numbers were not found in the system. The cop said because it was not titled in nc.
