Vehicle Detail
Bunce Buck H Modified Race Car based on components from a Renault 4 CV. This car body was designed by Ed Buck and built by Bill Bunce and Gordon Dustan in 1959. 3 Bodies were made and this one was fitted with the running gear from a Renault 4 CV. The car was driven on the street by Gordon in Moses Lake, Washington. He then traded it in on an MGA in Montana and the car’s history is unknown until found in Vernal, Utah. I purchased the car in the early 2000’s and went to work slowly at first but eventually finished the car and raced it in spring of 2009. The car has been very reliable and always finished, with some class wins. I have raced the car in at least six events including Coronado Island, Laguna Seca, Infineon, and Hallett. The car is fun to drive and always draws a great deal of interest. It is a great way to test the waters of Vintage Racing. The car is powered by an 845 cc engine from the Gordini Dauphine. Two SU carburetors feed the powerplant that is connected to the 4CV gearbox as also originally used in the Lotus 18. The original brakes have been upgraded to the larger Dauphine Drums. During the restoration a roll cage was added as you can see in the photos and the engine was rebuilt. The car comes with a spare set of rims, tires and a small pile of parts including a rebuilt shaved head and other engine parts. I have all the receipts on what I have spent. The bodywork was in the current condition when I purchased the car and has worn holes where the front and rear sections bolt in and a few cracks around the headlights and is in "condition 4". I will add some photos to detail this. I will help in any way possible with the shipping of the car. $500.00 deposit required. I want you to be happy with your purchase and the sale is subject to your inspection in Albuquerque, NM. Please take delivery of the vehicle within 30 days. This vehicle does not have a title (never did) On Jan-30-14 at 08:08:23 PST, seller added the following information: The photo of the red car is a sister car to the Bunce Buck designed to have a Crosley engine installed up front. On Jan-30-14 at 08:44:40 PST, seller added the following information: I added a few more recent photos showing the engine and cockpit. The car has a modern electronic tachometer along side the old broken original. The switches are for ignition, the headlights and a toggle for switching between the city and country horns. One of the old Stewart warner guages has broken glass but the guage still functions. I am including all my paperwork including two Dauphine manuals and one 4CV parts book. I also will include all my race spares and other spares as can be shipped.
