Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a very nice 1972 Buick Skylark convertible done up in a black and gold GSX paint scheme that Im selling for my friend Carl. He’s selling it because he’s a Chevelle guy and the Buick really isn’t doing it for him. Its equipped with a 350 4 barrel, turbo 350 3 speed automatic transmission and dual exhaust. It has power drum brakes, factory Buick rally wheels and 245/60-14 tires. Odometer reads 93,113. I believe that to be the true mileage. Carl bought it out of Kenosha Wisconsin off Ebay in 2011 and I believe the car was local to that area all of its life before coming to NY. I’ll try and give a general overview of the car- The floors and trunk pan are solid. The car was done to a nice standard. The paint is shiny and the bodywork is straight, but it has its share of blemishes and imperfections that are noticeable up close. If your looking for “perfect”, this car isn’t it. The frame has a couple of thin spots by the transmission crossmember and has one area that was patched. The frame is otherwise solid. These issues in no way effect the integrity of the frame or the driveability of the car. The rest of the frames passes the ball peen hammer test. Unless the car your buying is from the arid southwest, all boxed, convertible frames show some type of deterioration after 40+ years. This would be considered an ”amateur restoration”. It’s not a “national show winner”, but it IS a nice car for things like a local show, to take the girlfriend or wife out for ice cream with the top down, local cruise nights etc.. It’s a car you can drive as soon as you buy it and enjoy right away. The car gets plenty of looks and thumbs up wherever it goes. It’s a sharp looking car that wont break the bank . You would not be able to build it for less than the reserve. The interior has buckets and a console (it was originally bench/ column shift car). The stereo is aftermarket with a pair of custom kick panel speakers. The interior is in overall decent condition with new carpets. Front passenger seat shows some minor tears. Again, not a show car interior but overall very presentable and clean. The dash is in good shape with no cracks. It has a factory GS three spoke steering wheel. The power top goes up and down as it should. The top and rear glass is in good shape, no tears or rips but does have one minor repair in the canvas. I posted some additional pictures on my photobucket account so hopefully you can get a sense of the condition. Just a note- Im not a professional photographer and its actually very difficult taking pictures of a black car. They're the best I can do. So just click on the blue link below to be directed to the pics- http://s482.photobucket.com/user/mr-trishield/library/Carls%20GSX?sort=3&page=1 The car runs and drives well and has a nice rumble to the dual exhaust. The car has no major mechanical issues . The vacuum reading is nice and steady at idle. The engine doesn’t smoke and was recently tuned up, serviced and upgraded with electronic “HEI” ignition. It recently passed NY State inspection. It is currently garaged, registered, insured and gets driven on a semi regular basis. The car is located on the south shore of Long Island approx 55 miles east of NYC. Buying a car sight unseen is never a good idea and I don’t recommend it. I would encourage anyone within driving distance to come look at the car in person. Tha way you know exactly what your bidding on. If your too far away, send a club member you know who is in the area to come see it for you. If you have any questions, or if you need any more pictures, please ask and I will answer to the best of my ability. If you want to talk to the owner, Carl can be reached during the day at his work at(631) 567-6394. If you have any questions, please email or call. I require a $200 NON REFUNDABLE deposit with 24 hours of the close of the auction via Paypal. If I don't receive the deposit, the car gets relisted right away. The balance to be paid via certified bank check or in cash in person within 10 days. No trades, no payment plans, and no holding the car for 6 months while you try and sell yours. If you don't have the money readily available, PLEASE DONT BID. Anyone will a zero feedback or negative feedback needs to email me prior to bidding or I will just cancel your bid. Im tired of having to list a car three times to get a "live one". Also be advised that NY State does not issue titles for cars prior to 1973. This car has a transferrable registration. There is no "title". Please research this for yourself before bidding so you don't think Im trying to scam you. I will hold the car for a reasonable amount of time after car is paid for in FULL to arrange transportation or shipping. I think 2 weeks is a reasonable time frame. If you need more time than that, please email me PRIOR to bidding. Thanks and good luck!
