Vehicle Detail

A true barn find. I purchased this car from an elderly neighbor, who started the restoration years ago, but obviously never finished. Here's what I have from him; 401 Nailhead engine completely and professionally rebuilt. Never cranked it. Automatic transmission completely and professionally rebuilt. New paint Brand new Coker WWW tires Wheels sandblasted and painted Bumpers re-chromed Grill re-chromed A lot of the smaller trim parts and emblems re-chromed. Gas tank flushed A/C compressor rebuilt. 36000 miles believed to be actual mileage. Florida car. No rust found anywhere in the car. Always stored in the dry. Here's what I found Everything stated to me appears to be true. The engine looks as new. I hooked the wiring to the engine, hooked up the gas line, filled it with oil, put belts on it, coolant in the radiator, gas in the tank, and the car cranked right up and idled. I let it run for a good while. The battery charged, the power steering worked, and it never overheated. The engine does not rev smoothly, but it cranks & runs. Dash guages work. The carb that's on it was one I found in the trunk. There is another one that appears to have been rebuilt, but I didn't see any way that it could fit this engine. After the car warmed up I put it in drive and it pulled itself out of the barn, then I put it in reverse and it backed back in. Did this several times. Had to use the emergency brake because the brake has almost no pedal. No transmission fluid spewing, although it does drip some. The engine does not have a drip. I do not know if this is the Electra, LeSabre, or the Invicta. The paint appears to have been sprayed but never color-sanded or buffed. The front fenders are just loosely bolted The interior appears to be original and may be able to be used with some cleaning. Looks fairly good. New roll of carpet in the box. All the glass looks ok. Yep, that's the hood laying up on top wrapped in a quilt. The trunk & part of the rest of the car still has plastic on it. My guess would be that there are dings and scratches everywhere. Clear notarized Fla. title. It's just been pointed out to me by someone who knows that this is the INVICTA model. Here's the deal; I will sell this car as-is, where-is, with no warranty of any sort. I DO NOT KNOW AND WILL NOT GUARANTEE THAT ALL THE PARTS ARE THERE. What you see is what you get, except I do have the other bumper (not shown). If anyone wants to ask me about a particular part, I will be glad to look through what is there and see. PayPal deposit within 24 hours of the end of the auction. Balance within 7 days. Any form of payment other than cash or bank-to-bank will cause the car to be held until the funds clear, which can take up to 14 days. I can store the car for up to 30 days after final payment is made. I have a pretty good place to load. Bidders with less than 10 feedback MUST contact me in advance before bidding, or I will cancel that bid. I can, will, and have prosecuted bogus bidders. Please ask questions in plenty of time for me to get the answer to you. I will answer legitimate questions promptly. Dumb questions, such as "can I drive it home" or " I have a Harley Sportster I want to trade" will just be ignored. On Apr-26-13 at 18:28:20 PDT, seller added the following information: Lots of questions about this car. We are away some so I might not have gotten to each question individually. The chrome on the bumpers and the parts that have been re-chromed is obviously new, but there is light scratching, nicks, dings, etc. just from being stored unwrapped. The rear bumper is present, standing up in the corner of the barn. I just went over and looked at it. It consists of 3-4 different parts bolted together with new bolts, has new or re-finished brackets bolted on it, and has new tag and I guess back-up lights in it. The barn has a concrete and wood floor, so it's not that the car and parts have been sitting on the ground. I don't think anyone will be disappointed with the chrome, unless you expect show quality right off the bat with no cleaning or polishing. I will be glad to attach the hood to the car for transport. The trunk lid is already on the car and is lockable. The tires look ok...no visible dry-rot or cracking. It's going to take at least $2500. to get this car. I'm somewhat familiar with old cars, and I know what engine re-building and chrome work costs. It probably cost $2k plus to chrome those big old bumpers. I've already turned down $1800. from a hot rodder just for the engine These Coker tires are probably $200. each. I think I could part the car out and get a lot more for it, but time is a problem, just like with everybody.
