1966 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe Rally Red w/Black interior, 427/390hp, 4-spd manual transmission.

The year 1966 has a warm place in the hearts of big block Corvette aficionados everywhere because this was the year of the 427! Introduced in ’65 with a displacement of 396ci, the mighty big block increased to 427ci the next year and that’s when the legend began!

This Sting Ray comes with the very first year offered 427ci/390hp engine. This engine was initially rated at 400hp but was reduced to 390hp just before production began. This change was not because of any changes to the engine, but rather an administrative decision. The other 427 was a solid lifter version that produced 425hp. The A/C was not available on the 425hp.

This is a loaded and matching #’s car. It comes equipped with side exhaust, power steering, power brakes, knock off wheels w/Gold line radials, leather headrest seats, power windows, am/fm radio and tele wheel. Great options that only make it rarer and a blast to drive! The car has been frame-on restored and has been re-painted Rally Red from its original Milano Maroon exterior. It’s in beautiful condition throughout, sounds mean and runs and drives great!

On top of the items mentioned above, when you ordered a 427 Corvette you had to take it with Positraction and the close-ratio Muncie four-speed; there was no other choice. You also got an upgraded suspension, basically the same as the 396 package, as well as stouter, shot-peened halfshafts and U-joints and a higher-capacity radiator and sump. Regardless of which axle ratio you picked, the 427 Sting Ray was an astonishing executor. With the short 4.11:1 gearing, 0-60 mph times were recorded in a nearly unbelievable 4.8 seconds, and 0-100 mph in 11.2 seconds, with a blistering top speed of 140 mph. The modest 3.36:1 ratio made things only a bit less sensational: Car and Driver reported 0-60 in 5.4 seconds and a standing quarter of 12.8 seconds at 112 mph.
