Vehicle Detail
For your consideration a nice 1942 Ford GPW serial #65735, dod. 9-15-42. Has a welded on hard cab the appears to have been hand crafted many years ago. I have received information from the previous owner, and others, that this type of modification was sometimes used in the Korean War theater for medical supply trucks. The original owner told me he had acquired this jeep as government surplus in this exact configuration, minus the newer paint…..I have no reason to doubt the cab already being on the jeep when it was surplused. Good condition overall, the cap has preserved the interior quite well. Engine had run fine a few years ago, has been preserved before indoor storage with oil in the cylinders. I Need to check the engine number soon, to see if it is the original ford block.. Jeep has original t84 transmission, drivetrain, and four combat wheels on it. Has GPW radiator, and comes with the air cleaner that was removed for storage. Also has the original generator, quick release lever, distributor, and oil filter. Frame has surface rust overall, but no issues of rust thru. Original Ford leaf springs are on all 4 corners. Front bumper is a welded angle iron, but the frame is restorable with some careful grinding of the attachment points. There are no cracks or damage indicative of the jeep ever having a plow mounted. Beautifully preserved (unweathered) set of 3 glovebox data plates….Dash looks pretty unmolested, with a couple small missing items, and a couple extra holes. I have made no attempt to uncover the hood numbers, but they might be there. I am currently looking for the title, and will be able to acquire a replacement New York registration for the high bidder if necessary. Jeep is sold as is, with no warranty express or implied. Please take note that I may have overlooked some details, so please email with questions. Jeep will need some repairs to be roadworthy such as brakes, fuel tank, tires, tuneup…etc… A very unique piece of history. Thanks and good luckOn May-31-12 at 04:53:53 PDT, seller added the following information: Appears that the engine is a 2a motor, with the military accessories transfered over.
