Vehicle Detail
2004 White Jetta GLS TDI Wagon purchased new by me in March of 2004. It has been our company gopher for the past 8 years running errands to pick up parts, to deliver packages to the Post Office and to ferry my bicycles all over north Georgia when not doing official company business. In fact, the storage space in the spare wheel compartment is excellent for bike tools and spares! This car was built in Germany, which is where all of the wagons in 2004 were produced. 1.9 liter 4 cylinder diesel engine, 5-speed manual transmission, four wheel disc brakes and front wheel drive. There are 6 air bags in the passenger compartment. For the life of the car I have averaged 37 mpg in combination city and highway driving. The Jetta TDI Wagon is a great economy car! Service history: -Oil and filter changes every 10,000 miles using Euro spec filters and VW approved 505.01 motor oil. If you have done your research, you know about the oil specification for the BEW engine. -Timing belt, water pump and idler / tensioner pulley changed at 80,000 miles, per VW recommendations. -Front and rear rotors and pads changed at 106,000 miles. -Windshield replaced last summer due to stone damage. Pollen filter done at same time. -Fuel filter and air filter have been changed twice.....or every 50,000 miles. -The car is on its third set of Michelin tires (factory tires) and will need to be replaced in the next 5,000 miles. -Replaced whip antenna with German made part. The good, the bad and no ugly: -No accidents, nada, zip, nothing! -The car is fully loaded including leather seats, sunroof, heated front seats and Monsoon sound system. -The car comes with VW mud mats and VW foam rear cargo liner. -Carpet mats are also with the car and were never used in the car. The mats were stored for 8 years in our warehouse. -Spare tire is full size and is unused. -Trailer hitch was installed for use with a bicycle carrier. Never used to tow anything. -The leather seats show normal wear with no rips or tears. Did have to have the front passenger lower seat cushion restitched where it started coming apart. -Center armrest / console has a broken hinge on the cover (I think they all do at some point) and the cover shows normal wear / staining. -The water temp sender has been acting up, which is a common problem. I will purchase and install a new sender before I sign the title over to the new owner. -Had the headlamp lenses polished last summer and they are now cloudy again. Common problem with these cars. -Normal stone chips on the front of the car and normal dings on the doors. (see photos) -Small hairline cracks in the paint in the center of the front bumper. Cracks are 3-4 inches long and appear to have been caused by slight tap from trailer hitch in a parking lot. Did not have luck getting them to show up in a photo. -Rear tailgate shows wear from all of the packages being loaded and unloaded over the years. -No pets or smoking in the car. Purchase at the buy it now price and I will have the headlamps polished and the car will have a full tank of diesel fuel for the drive home, which will get you over 600 miles toward your destination. The car has been detailed and waxed and I'll throw in a fresh coat of Georgia spring pollen too. Thanks for looking and if you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
