Vehicle Detail
2000 Land Rover DiscoveryThis vehicle does not run, and can only be hauled or towed away. I bought this Discovery when it had 75000 miles on it. The dealer had made a major engine repair but neglected to replace the engine. The 4.0 is notorious for head gasket problems that can cause a catastrophic engine failure, and in this case it did. They put new heads on it, but did not replace the camshaft which was weakeded in the original malfunction. In November of 09, the camshaft finally broke in half. I put a used camshaft in it just to see what would happen, and found that cylinder #7 has a bad valve, probably a piston strike from the camshaft failure. There was no urgency on my part to replace the motor since I didn't need the car, and so it sat in my yard until now. I have finally decided that I will never repair it, and should just sell it to somebody who wants a project or a parts car. The engine will need major work, and the alarm box is bad, probably from moisture, so I can't put down the exact mileage but I certify that it is around 135000 miles or less. The body is straight with no dents, and only minor scratches. The front bumper cover is broken as seen in the pictures. The interior is a bit mildewed but not beyond a good cleaning - no real damage. It has 2 sunroofs. The transmission is still good as are most of the mechanical parts. Everything worked perfectly when it ran, but sitting in the yard may have caused some of the electronics to fail. Overall, it still has potential to be a good road car, and could really be a great off-road car. For the Land Rover enthusiast, this is a very good parts car with thousands of dollars worth of good spare parts on it. I'm selling it because I won't ever fix it myself, nor would I want to keep it if I did. I have too many other things to keep me busy. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION. The sale goes to the highest paying bidder. If you can't pay, don't bid. On Nov-27-11 at 11:56:09 PST, seller added the following information: jrmnw1 store
