1951 MGTD CONVERTIBLE Up for sale is a 1951 MGTD CONVERTIBLE. This car has been completely restored and is in excellent condition! The car is being sold from an estate. It has been sitting in storage for the last 4 years but has been taken out and driven a few miles regularly. We are not sure how many previous owners the vehicle had. This car was restored in 1998-1999 by the receipts we have been shown and only has 737 miles since restoration! There are hundreds of new parts that have been replaced on this vehicle. Almost all of the parts were ordered from Moss Motors so they are specific MG parts. We have $8500 in receipts of documented replaced parts! There are hand notes from the owner showing around $10,000 invested. Keep in mind these receipts are for parts purchased 12-13 years ago. A rough check at some of the higher dollar items shows on average a 40% increase in part prices, meaning you are looking at about $14,000 in parts at today’s prices! One item replaced below, the complete leather seat upholstery has jumped in price from $819 to $2,250 – almost a 300% increase! There are some other items below shown that jumped 50%-200% more in price! The items without a revised price went up about 40% on average as mentioned. You will hear it drop in RPMs as it is set to a very low idle. The car also has nearly brand new Sears Guardsman SCR II tires (165R15/85S M&S). They have on average 9/32” of tread left. There is a spare on back with a matching wheel and tire that has never touched the ground. This is an excellent care you will not want to pass up. The past owner was a member of the New England MG ‘T’ Register, Ltd. and the member number is mounted to the glove compartment. One of the only flaws on the vehicle we found is that the leather on the glove compartment door is starting to peel along the edges which we have shown below. Everything else is excellent but a just little dirty from storage – a good detailing could make this a show car easily! This car is offered at a great price – the parts alone account for almost half the vehicle’s asking price. Keep in mind that is ’98-’99 parts price – in today’s market it would make the parts amount to over 70% of the asking price – AND THAT AMOUNT DOES NOT INCLUDE LABOR!
