This is a 1954 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special with all factory options including factory air Conditioning. This car was driven from 1954 to 1970 by a old fellow here in town. In 1970 he was to old to drive so the family locked the car in a garage with 29,800 miles on it. Last week I cut the lock on the garage door and removed the car from storage after 42 years in the dark. Here is a driscription of what I found. INTERIOR. The interior is in very nice condition with no rips in any of the seats. The seats are dirty and should be cleaned and I am sure they are a little fragile as they are 57 years old. The dash pad is excellent. All the interior chrome is excellent also with No pits in the chrome. The headliner is nice. The original carpet should be replaced. The clear plastic tubes that direct the air conditioned air to the headliner vents are in nice condition. The interior floors have some light surface rust in about 5% of the floor but are solid other then that and are not rusted out. ENGINE. The car was driven in the garage in 1970 so it ran good at that time. It has not been started since. The engine compartment is complete and nothing is missing. The original air cleaner is there. TRANSMISSION. It has a 4 speed Hydramatic transmission that worked good when put in storage. BRAKES. The car has Power brakes. They do not work from sitting for 42 years. The hand brake works good. GLASS The windshield is nice. 2 of the door side windows have a cracks in them. BODY The body has original paint on it that is faded and scratched. The car sat outside from 1954 to 1970 but was inside from 1970 to 2011. The car has some dents and and some light lower fender rust. The exterior chrome is very nice but the front and rear bumper should be redone. OPTIONS. The car is loaded with all options. The factory air conditioning is complete and worked when parked in 1970, The car has Autotronic eye automatic headlights, Wonder bar radio with power antenna, Power windows, Power seat, Power brakes, Power steering, Clock, Windshield washer system. This would be a nice car for a light restoration and to drive. I have not put a battery in it and have not tried to start it but the engine turns free. Nothing is missing except one hub cap. The title is clear and the owners manual is in the glove box. The car is located in Anaconda, Montana. Please feel free to email any questions. These are the numbers on the firewall tag = 54-6019X, BODY #1979, TRIM 72Y, PAINT 3F, ACC E H R K2. The car was last licensed in 1970 and has the 1970 Montana license plates on it and registration paper from 1970.On Aug-23-11 at 17:24:08 PDT, seller added the following information: !!!!!!!! PLEASE READ !!!!!!!! I have had a alarming number of people email me thinking they can bring a battery along and drive this car home. Let me set the record straight. THE BRAKES DO NOT WORK. Also this car was driven into storage with fuel in the tank and has sat for 42 years so I am sure the fuel turned to gell and the tank will need to be cleaned. You will most likely have to rebuild the carburetor. I would not be suprised if the rubber diaprahm in the fuel pump has turned hard and would need to be replaced. All the fluids should be replaced. The tires all need to be replaced. These are the minimum things that would need to be done before it would be road worthy. It has not been started in 42 years.
