I currently have 5 vehicles and 3 drivers. One has to go and as much as I hate to give this up, one HAS TO GO. I have owned this vehicle sin 1993 and have maintained it with 2 shops that did nothing but VW's. One in Burlington, WI and one in Jacksonville, FL . . Below are all of the maintenance records on the vehicle. I may have missed putting in an oil change or 2, but they were done. Interior is in good shape and has had seat covers on them for many years. It has been garage kept most of its life. Vehicle still gets between 36 and 38 MPG around town and I haven't been on a long trip (over 200 miles for a while,) but wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. This is a 5 speed manual transmission. Engine and transmission are in great shape. There is a slight bit of rust popping up under the wiper area, I have pictures that show it. There is a slight dent on the left side, but not enuf to notice. I really love this car and it has been faithful to me for a long time. I'm hoping that someone will take as good care of it as I did. 1 major item that I have not repaired is the A/C. It does not work. Heat does work well and I have put in a new thermostat. It has a plug coming out the front. For those of you who know what a block heater is, it has one, but has been in FL for such a long time that I have not checked to see if it still works. Tires have 8000+ miles on them. This would be a great car for a college student if you need cheap, reliable transmission. I really love this car, as I hope you will too! I will not ship this car. You must make arrangements to pick it up... I may drive it to Orlando, but I'll need transportation home (Amtrak would work) I live North of Jacksonville, FL on the GA border. Replaced L rear brake shoes. Replaced both Front Rotors, Replaced 1 front pad. Oil Change + filter. Checked Brake Fluid. Cleaned brakes. Replaced Windshield. Replaced Right Front Axle . Had body work on entire front strip where wipers are located. $1525 9/05 127800 Replaced all fuel hose lines and repaired fuel injector pump. No more leak. 1/06 128500 Oil and Filter change . Work on injector pump. Still has fuel smell. Needs pump at some time in future. Tightend A/C bolt that was backing out. 8/06 133172 OIL and Filter 20w50,Rotate and Balance and Wheel alignment, Ck Battery, says it is only 40-50% cranking., Brakes OK , I Tightened crankcase oil line clamp. 10/06 134597 Replaced coolant hoses…fule leak from pump caused to deteriorate. New thermostat and coolant. Brakes OK Rear shocks weak.. A Arm Bushing needs to be replaced,,later Put in fuel injection seal kit. After drive home, still leaking. Got to go back in. L R Tire is bad.. needs to be replaced sometime. $700+ 2/7/07 135800 Rear Struts replaced. After 6 attempts to repair fuel injection pump, a rebuilt was installed. 4 New glow plugs, installed. Thermostat replaced. $300 3/8/2007 136300 Oil and Filter 20w50. A Frame bushings on Right side replaced. FRONT Struts replaced. KYB Touring Gas Lifetime warranty. R Rear Wheel bearing replaced. Still pulling. 3/9/09 146870 Finally got Tire Kingdom to put on 4 new tires. No more pulling. Car is great!! Replaced Thermostat,….Replaced non working AC core as it was cracked and belts were about to go. Replaced Alternator Belt and A/C Belt. Replaced cooling fan with used.. I sell bearings, and if someone can overhaul the A/C, I can supply the bearing. Heat does work well and I have put in a new thermostat. It has a plug coming out the front. I have kept comprehensive insurance on it, so the windshield has been replaced over the years. No dings or cracks. Windows are old fashioned crank windows. No power. You must lock the car by pushing down the locks and in order to lock the drivers door, you must lock it with the key. You can't lock yourself out this way! It has a huge trunk so you can move a bunch of stuff. Just don't bottom out the struts. By the way,it is a diesel and is a bit noisier than a gas engine.
