1970 GMC 4 wheel drive pick up truck . Truck has rust on cab and bed and doors. Windows roll up and down but are stiff. 4wd works. Just had ball joints put in over the winter. Engine is not original. It's a newer 350 motor with about 60, 000 mi. on it with an Edelbrock carb and dual exhaust. Trans. is 4 speed with granny gear. Tires are good. Spare has never touched the road. Has a new gas tank and sender unit. Brake lines are newer. I just drove this truck from my home in NY to my home in Massachusettes. It's a 450 mi round trip journey. I had close to a 1,000 lbs of lumber in the bed for a structure I was building. No problems. It's not geared for highway use but ,I drove at night at 55 mph on Interstate 95. I use it pretty regularly although not with that much weight on it. Dosen't really matter if there's a lot of weight on it. There's 11 leaves in the springs in the back . I think the truck was made for a camper. I have a cap on it now. The cap does not go with the truck. I'm keeping it for another truck I have. It's a fun truck to have around to do short runs with. It's worth restoring or you can just drive it the way it is like I do. It has been 100% dependable for me. On Aug-09-11 at 15:17:50 PDT, seller added the following information: It's a 3/4 ton. They call it a Custom. I believe it's a camper package originally. The door locks do not work. I've made a few out of state trips with it. Never failed me. I've had it for over 3 yrs. I've invested about $7,000 in parts and labor. I did this because I like old cars and trucks and want to try and keep them ticking. Many people don't understand this. I guess it's an illness. And, yes , as stated in the description, there is rust on the truck. It's not falling apart. I had a half ton of weight on it for a 225 mi. trip. It held up fine. Tail gate opens and closes pretty good. Doors open and close pretty good. The truck is 41 yrs old and still road worthy.On Aug-12-11 at 17:26:00 PDT, seller added the following information: Took 2 pictures without the cap on the back. I know they're dark and a little out of focus. Just to have an idea of the truck without the cap. Maybe I'll get a couple more tomorrow. On Aug-13-11 at 06:33:34 PDT, seller added the following information: Someone wanted to know more about the rust. There's a lot of rust . There's some holes. There's a cheap bed liner in it. My feeling is the guy who had it before me put that liner in there to cover rust and holes. Dosen't change the fact that I had a huge load of wood on it and drove well over 200 mi. Also had a small load of stuff that was lighter but, filled the bed , on the ride home. I take stuff to the salvage yard in this truck . I had 7 water heaters on it along with other scrap items totaling in the nieghborhood of 900lbs.
