Vehicle Detail

1956 Ford Customline Fordor, V8, Standard. Pretty much a museum piece: 57k original miles, dead stock except new proper color-code paint 10 years ago. Polished out again last fall before storage for the winter. NEVER driven in the rain unless a couple of miles to get it home. Excellent for cruising with more than two in the car: no flopping the front seat. There are no heel marks in the perfect headliner, nor on the floors in the back. The dash area looks like showroom, as does nearly ALL of the rest of the car. Original undercarriage paint visible on most of the bottom foor pans. NO rust, ever. NO bodywork, ever. It has radials with 8k miles on them, dialed in. I’ve owned this beauty for 8 years, have the provenance since new. I’m getting too old for the 'Arm-strong' steering, and I just don’t drive it as much as it should be driven. It has failed to start ONCE in 8 years: when I flooded it before I realized that with two pumps on the gas. It fires up every time, regardless of how long in dry storage, which is between October and May of each year. The oil gets changed once per year, EVERY year. I rarely put more than 200 to 300 miles per year on it, so I should imagine the oil is pretty clean. Downsides: Heater was disconnected 40 years ago: driven on sunny warm days only, and never needed it. The whole heater line is there, except the valve on the dome is changed to a shut off: the core and lines are there in good shape. The stock radio worked up until 5 years ago, I think the antenna may be loose, but it may need a new tube. There is a small injury under the drive-side rocker, from a minor curb-touch: aprox 1/8” deep, 14” long, and basically unnoticeable. There’s some wear by the driver’s left foot kick-panel. The left driver window has a small crack in it from an elbow of a jerk who didn’t like me taking up two parking spaces, which I always do to prevent door-dings. The Ford Emblem on the hood could use some detailing to restore the paint: just haven’t had the ½ hour to do it myself. There’s some melting of the leading edge rubber transmission mount, but the pros at Bob’s Driveline said it was nothing: no effect. It was caused by some oil seepage down from the intake manifold, before I had the gasket replaced 6 years ago. There is a very small ding on the stainless trim at the front, caused by an overzealous kid with a hocket stick around 1964: you won't see it in the pics, it's too small. The rest of the trim is excellent. The bumpers are original, no dings, the chrome is better than fair. There's a 1/16" fleck of paint off of the headlight-cowl on the driver's side, received from a pebble when I was driving it home 8 years ago. I know of no other paint flaws. The headliner was perfect when I bought it. I noticed a little brown ridge around the done-light when I was inspecting it closely. It might have been there for a while. No changes since. The U-joints were replaced 2 years ago, they dried out after 53 years. Brakes are good, everything else that is not mentioned and that I can think of is good. This deserves the best of homes. It is comparatively superb, with all those little stock pices still there: the ones that go missing over the years. Original jack, original trunk-mat (with a small split in it near the rear), original imaculate floor mats, engine original, tight (17mpg driving usual highway). Clutch plate changed, got weak from sitting, tires changed to radials, shocks changed, brakes changed, mirrors changed, paint upgraded from the base-based original. The rest came attached from the factory. It took me nearly 30 years of looking at 56 Fords to find it. I’m not into restorations: I was looking for original and pristine, and this was it. I paid $16,000 for it because it needed little or nothing when I bought it, and the interior is priceless in original and nearly perfect condition.I have the stock mirrors (they were set too far ahead on the fender for modern driving), and I have the stock center-caps for the wheels (I like the 58 Montcalm caps that are on it now, myself). The battery-box position was changed towards the front for convenience: I have the stock battery box. The battery was new last year. What goes with it: Era pictures, magazines, the original Factory Ford Service Manual, everything that’s in it, on it, and stored, including the mirror, hub caps and battery-box as mentioned above.Find another like it first (which you won't, I promise), THEN try to dicker. This car is about as rare as they get. Beautiful. I have many pictures, don't mind sending them to SERIOUS inquirers. It’s not perfect, but I think I’ve covered off any deficiencies. I sold this car on eBay 3 years ago, but by the time the sale was done, I had changed my mind. I paid the guy $300 to cancel the deal and apologized for being wishywashy at the time. Now, it’s just that time of life. This has to go. Don’t worry about transport. I will drive this car to anywhere in North America max it out at Fuel + $300 for a ticket back to WA state. I’d prefer to sell it to Maine area: that’s give me a cross-country tour, but I’ll take it anywhere in North America. I highly doubt anything will go wrong on the way, but if so, I fix it. It’ll be fully serviced before it leaves here, and it’ll get there in the same condition as it left, with added miles depending on where you are. If you are planning on flying in and picking it up, I will pick you up at the airport: If USA, get to Bellingham International, If in Canada, get to Abbotsford International. If you need to store it for a little while, not a problem. Just pay for it as indicated: It's been here for many years, a little longer won't hurt anything. If you are planning on shipping it, it is out of your shipper location in the Vancouver, BC, area. It’s a Canadian car, made in Winsor Ontario, and it’s in the Vancouver area now. Don’t’ be concerned about Importing if you buy it from the USA: there’s nothing to it at this age of vehicle. They treat seniors gently :-) . I will deal with it, and/or assist you in doing it. You will note that I have over 2,000 positive feedbacks on eBay, with ZERO negatives. I've bin der, dun dat. If I have forgotten any minor detail, then sorry, I've done my best. I'm straight-up, and I'm expecting a straight-up buyer. I expect cash BUT I will consider a 2006 or LATER Honda Goldwing GL1800 in good condition as trade, and may add some cash for the right bike. If interested, send me email with details, year, mileage, pictures. Do NOT bid if you have less than 10 positive feedbacks and have NO negative feedbacks. DO NOT BID UNLESS YOU ARE SERIOUS. Plan on paying on schedule, no exceptions. This is listed locally, and I reserve the right to cancel this listing at any time. Powered by eBay Turbo Lister The free listing tool.
