back in 1967, most bikes from Japan were small or mid size.......but the youth in America demanded more, Suzuki responded with the the 500/five, or as they called it in UK,,,,,the Cobra ! this was a mile stone.....a 500 cc twin that would haul you down the 1/4 mile in 14 seconds, would go 0-60 in 6 seconds flat, could go over 100mph........and still be reliable as a stone bridge..........and also a 5 speed gear box.....the bike was so reliable Suzuki kept it in its line up for 10 years without too many changes .....the motorcycle magazines hailed it as milestone , a technology wonder .....and the 1st true super bike .........in stock form ......it produced 47 horsepower, and at the time, was the fastest motorcycle from Japanwhat is unique on the 1968 t500.....is the 60"s styling.....with such things as swede type seat, flashy tank panels and knee pads, valanced fenders...and a wide set of unbridged handlebars, and a pair of 34mm carburators.........truely a classic machine although i have restored many t500"s in the past 30 years, this is not my resto, im selling this for a friend of mine , who is retiring and needs to sell some of the "toys" i did help him with 2 things......the engine and the paintingill start with the enginecompletely dimantled, crankcase set walnut shelled beaded......for that show quality look, new clutch plates installed, all gears full checked, worn gears tossed and replaced with nos,all bearings and seals replaced with nos, crankshaft dismantled and rebuilt by worldclass crank rebuilder 'Crankmaster"using genuine Suzuki crank seals ......the cylinders have been show beaded and bored to 1st over size.......we then installed genuine Suzuki 1st over piston and rings.....complete with nos pin, clips and bearings.....and new gaskets....this bike is like new inside and out!. We have a state of the art Body Facility, complete with an EPA approved paint booth! Our Tanks are first sent to Elizabeth Radiator to be cleaned out and relined with a rust proof liner, this ensures you absolutely NO leaks and NO rust!! Bodywork is then sanded and all minor dings and imperfections are eliminated followed by the application of a High Quality Primer.When it comes to Paint, we use House of Kolor and PPG products - both are Fantastic Quality! Paint matching is achieved using Computer Technology and the Years of Experience of our Spraying Professional. A minimum of 3 Color Coats are applied to obtain the correct depth of shade and to ensure protection followed by the correctly matched Pinstripes for the model year. We use 3M Vinyl which is the same specification as the Suzuki Factory which are checked for Quality and Dimension Tolerances prior to application. Finally - 3 Coats of Clear Lacquer are applied over the Finished Product and the Results?????
