The 2011 Buick LaCrosse ranks 3 out of 7 Affordable Large Cars. This ranking is based on our analysis of 20 published reviews and test drives of the Buick LaCrosse, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.
The 2011 Buick LaCrosse is shot across the bow from GM to longtime luxury leaders like Lexus.
Instead of the disconnected, floaty performance and disappointing cabin Buicks used to be known for, the 2011 Buick LaCrosse stands out among affordable midsize cars for its sharp styling, confident performance and a cabin that's one of the most luxurious available at this price point.
According to some reviewers, the LaCrosse is good enough to compete against cars costing several thousand dollars more. The Los Angeles Times says the LaCrosse "was built to put the cross-hairs on a single bogie, the Lexus ES350, and I'll tell you right now, it blows the Lexus out of the sky. Pow. Parachute. Smoking crater." All that and the LaCrosse's starting price undercuts the ES by a few thousand dollars. If you're looking for a luxury-minded cruiser for comfortable road trips and quiet commutes, the LaCrosse may be just what you're looking for.
Other Cars to Consider
The LaCrosse is upscale enough to challenge entry-level luxury cars, but priced like the higher trim levels of some affordable cars. If you're willing to spend more, make your comparisons in the luxury car classes. If you're looking to save a few bucks, compare the LaCrosse to affordable midsize cars.
Buyers who want luxury and are willing to pay for it should check out the Lexus ES. Like the LaCrosse, it has a zen-quiet cabin. While the ES does cost more than the LaCrosse, the Lexus brand may have more cachet with luxury shoppers. If luxury is more important to you than status, you'll do yourself a favor if you compare the LaCrosse to the Hyundai Genesis. While the Genesis is more expensive than the LaCrosse, it offers more standard luxury features and an exceptionally smooth ride.
On the other hand, a well-equipped Toyota Camry or Hyundai Sonata might offer a similar level of luxury as the LaCrosse for a slightly lower price. If you want a larger car, the Ford Taurus impresses reviewers with its strong engines and comfortable cabin, and it even starts about $2,000 less than the LaCrosse does.

The LaCrosse is available in base CX, more upscale CXL, and top-of-the-line CXS trims. New for 2011 is a standard four-cylinder engine in the CX and CXL front-wheel drive trims.

INITIAL INSPECTION
Odometer reading is supported by the general condition of the vehicle. Check for presence of lube sticker, maintenance log, or receipts to support mileage of vehicle. Change oil and filter on vehicle.
UNDERHOOD
ENGINE block, cylinder heads, intake and exhaust manifolds check or correct for cracks.
COMPRESSION TEST must be within manufactures’ specifications. If not make necessary repairs prior to sale. (Must be performed on vehicles with more than 60,000 miles prior to sale.)
CHECK FOR AND CORRECT ALL LEAKS
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID is at the prescribed level, and is not contaminated or discolored.
COOLANT is at the prescribed level, and is not contaminated.
PRESSURE TEST COOLING SYSTEM to check for and correct leaks.
Check for and or correct cooling fan operation.
POWER STEERING pump reservoir and gear box are at the prescribed level, and system shows no evidence of leaks or noises.
BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER is at the prescribed level, and system shows no evidence of leaks.
BATTERY charge is at prescribed level, cables are corrosion free and properly secured.
UNDER VEHICLE
VISUAL INSPECTION under vehicle.
TRANSMISSION CASE is free of cracks and leaks.
STANDARD TRANSMISSION FLUID is at the prescribed level (*ALSO TRANSFER CASE OF 4X4S) and no leaks.
CV BOOTS are free from cracks or deterioration.
STRUTS not leaking or weak.
INSPECT BRAKE WEAR (Front visual – Rear, Pull Both)
SUSPENSION SYSTEMS . (i.e. Ball Joints, Tie Rods) Checked for wear, and looseness. Replace any worn or loose parts.
SUSPENSION ALTERED (Lifted or Lowered.)
REAR AXLE fluid is at prescribed level (also front axle on 4x4s) and housing is not leaking.
ROAD TEST
ENGINE is operating properly and shows no obvious signs of problems (i.e. excessive smoking, poor performance, rough idle, etc.)

AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION is shifting properly and quietly.
STANDARD TRANSMISSION is shifting properly and quietly (includes transfer case on 4x4s.)
VIBRATION in drive line, if any, has been corrected.
ELECTRICAL all manual switches (e.g. power window, heating fan, windshield wiper, door locks, etc.) have been inspected for proper operation. All grids in the heated rear window (if equipped) are operating properly. Radio, / cassette, CD Player are fully operational. All gauges work, and are displayed properly.
AIR CONDITIONING has been inspected for proper operation, and any refrigerant leaks have been corrected.
STEERING has been checked for proper operation.
BRAKES AND CALIPERS has been checked for proper operation and leaks. Replace pads and liners fi worn beyond acceptable level.
PARKING BRAKE has been checked for proper operation.
UNUSUAL NOISES Correct conditions causing unusual noise in engine, transmission, and or drive axel.
EMISSION SYSTEMS all parts are present and functional and meet required standards.
MODIFICATIONS no Engine, transmission, drive axel, tires, rims, and suspension must be the same as original equipment specified for the vehicle (i.e. no modification) and meet all applicable Federal Regulations to be eligible for EasyCare Coverage.

Buyer's Inspection: We do our best to disclose all information known about this vehicle for auction. We welcome a Buyer's Inspection. If you plan to have a Buyer's Inspection, please make sure you have the vehicle inspected prior to the end of the auction. Inspection fees, if any, are the "Buyer's" sole responsibility.
Warranties: Unless stated otherwise, this vehicle is being sold "as is". Manufacturer's warranties may still apply. An extended warranty may also be available. Please contact us for details. No representations or warranties are made by the "Seller", nor are any representations or warranties relied upon by "Bidders" in making bids.
Payments: A deposit of $1,000.00 by Personal check (once cleared), Cash (in person) (non-refundable) must be paid within 24 Hours of the close of the Auction. When the deposit has been submitted, "Buyer" MUST fax a copy of their valid, state-issued driver's license and proof of insurance. The remaining balance must be paid within 3 Days. If payment is made by cashier's or personal check, we will hold all titles for 10 days or until funds have cleared.
Title Information: In genral, we have the title in our possesion. From time to time vehicle titles may be held by banks or lenders as collateral for loans. In many cases there is a delay in receiving the original instruments of up to 21 days from the time we pay a vehicle off. While we usually have all titles in our possession at closing, there are occasions where we may be waiting for them to arrive.
Finalizing Your Purchase: Winning bidder MUST communicate with us by e-mail or phone within 24 hours of the end of the auction to make arrangements to complete the transaction. If we cannot confirm your intention to buy or the sale is not completed within 3 days, we reserve the right to re-list this vehicle or sell to any other qualified buyer. Before the vehicle is released for shipment to the "Buyer", all sale-related and title-related paperwork must be signed and returned completed to the "Seller".
Shipping and Delivery: Unless outherwise stated in the Description section of this listing, all shipping charges are the "Buyer's" responsibility. We will help with shipping arrangements but will not be responsible in any way for claims arising from shipping damage! Licensed "Carriers" are generally insured for $3,000,000.00. We assume no responsibility for damages incurred after the vehicle leaves our showroom. All shipping arrangements provided by us are strictly a courtesy. We are not affiliated with any carrier. Any claims or other communication regarding shipment of vehicles will be between you and the "Carrier" and not with us. The amount of time it takes for delivery depends upon the "Carrier" selected. A typical experience is 7-14 days from the date the vehicle is picked up from our facility until it is delivered to your destination. Verify with the "Carrier" for an Estimated Time of Arrival to be sure.
Fee and Tax Information: "Buyer" is responsible not only for knowing their own states' laws regarding taxes and fees, but also remitting the proper taxes, fees, and documents for their state. All taxes and fees must be paid in full in order for the vehicle to be titled and registered.
Dealer Documentation Fee: Dealer will charge a Dealer Documenation fee of $55.00. There may be fees charges in your jurisdiction or province in addition to the fees we charge. We may charge a smog fee of $35.00, and a California Tire fee of $8.75.
