I had intentions to restore this truck as an all original but my spare time is way to limited now. This old truck is too good to wait much longer to be brought back to its full glory. 1958 Chevy Apache pick-up truck. 3100 ½ ton truck. Big Window. All original truck. Blue Flame 6 cylinder. As far as I can determine, this truck is all original as it came from the factory. I think that this truck was owned by two other owners before me. The truck spent all or almost all of its life in NC. This truck was last driven in 1990. The engine starts and runs but there is no oil flowing to the rockers. This is the much noted problem of no oil flow to the rockers on the blue flame engine. Especially when the engine was sitting for 20 years as the oil hardens and clogs the passages. The typical fixes are to clean the rockers where they meet the rocker shaft or to clean out the oil flow passage within the engine block. In any event, the engine seems to be in good condition, I installed a new rebuilt carburetor, new spark plugs, new plug wires, new distributor cap, new points, new condenser, new coil. The new rebuilt carb was a $200 item and it works perfectly. The brakes are complete and appear to be in good working condition but there is no pressure in the lines. The transmission is original and appears good. The differential is original and appears good. The radiator appears original and holds water without leaks. The tires are all decent drivers. The hubcaps are all original. The caps are old and worn and need to be restored or replaced. I have all 4 caps. . The hood id solid although it looks bad. The wheels are original including the spare tire, The glass is all complete except for the passenger side vent window which is cracked. There is cancer at the bottom of the cab as well as the doors. The floor board is rusted out. The dash is good, the radio is not original and I am unsure if it works. The bed is nice and original. The floor boards are original except that one board is missing. The photos don’t show the floor boards very well since there is a piece of old plywood covering the floor but I can see the original boards from the underside and they are solid. The tailgate is complete and original and solid. You will need to trailer this truck home. It is not drivable yet. It was parked since 1990. Please be prepared to pay for the truck within 3 days after auction close. I can hold the truck for you for a few weeks if necessary. No battery. Excellent high grade fitted truck cover included. I am selling this truck for a low price because I am only interested in the buyer being able to pay in full and carry the truck home as agreed. I do not have time to relist the truck or haggle with local tire kickers and day dreamers. This truck is not titled and so I will provide a Bill of Sale to you. You can start it but I do not recommend that you run it at all until you get the oil flowing up to the rocker assembly which appears to be a matter of cleaning the oil flow passage up to the rocker arm assembly. The glass on this truck is good except that it is dirty and has some old glue around the edges where the old guy who owned the truck for many years tried to repair the window gaskets. But the gaskets are in fact dry rotted and need to be replaced. The gas tank seems to be in good order although it has not been used in 20 years. This blue flame engine has the external oil filter canister.
