For your consideration a 1952 Willys M38a1 military jeep. Serial # 17543, dod. 9/52, with 26,000 original miles. An early example with the thumbscrew battery box lid, hinged front grill, rare original slanted seam front fenders, and the narrow early bumper in undamaged condition. Engine Runs great, with no smoke or knocks. The engine is totally original with the 24 volt system and all waterproof accessories (distributor, carb, generator, regulator). Three speed transmission and transfer case shift smoothly and quietly. Brakes are currently inoperative due to bad master cylinder. This jeep was a municipal vehicle used for off road search and rescue operations. It was well maintained and not abused, I was told that it spent most of its time in indoor storage due to lack of need in the department. Has the original seat frames, cushions, rear seat, and 50’s dated military tires. (pass seat not shown but included) Body has very minimal rust, surface rust mostly in a few spots, and a couple small dings. Frame and springs are excellent. Has all the original dashboard accessories and data plates. Windshield frame is very good shape also.... Fuel tank is original and appears to be in good shape, no leaks. Would make an excellent restoration candidate, as it has not been modified or used by anyone besides the military, and the municipality.. Never had a snowplow mounted. Never had locking hubs installed. Never been registered on the road. Has one of the best original condition body’s that I have seen. Included for the winning bid are original blackout taillights, passenger seat, pintle hook, spare tire carrier, spare wheel, top brackets, bows and an original army summer top! No title, just bill of sale. I can apply for NYS transferable registration if the winning bidder so desires. Sold in as is condition, no warranty express or implied. Remember that this is a running vehicle for restoration that has been in dry storage for years. Started ocassionally, but dont expect to get in and drive it home!
