Vehicle Detail

This is a RESERVE auction. The reserve for this vehicle is: $2400.00 My name is Scott. I am the eBay sales agent for a small but thriving car sales company called MANASSAS AUTO, TRUCK & TRACTOR. MANASSAS AUTO TRUCK & TRACTOR - www.manassasautotrucks.com Here is a link to our web page for this car: 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce $2,999 - Manassas Auto Truck & Tractor - Manassas, VA 20111 Dealer We are located near historic Manassas, Virginia. Not far from the famous Bull Run river. We specialize mostly in Imported Autos, but the occasional, exceptional, American car makes it into our inventory as well. Our philosophy is that we will not offer a car for sale unless we would want our wife or children driving it. We don’t deal in junk! Only top quality, reliable cars and trucks! Hemmings Sports and Exotic Cars magazine, every month features a car called a “DRIVABLE DREAM”. I feel this car qualifies for that title. I’ve been a mechanic for 38 years. I’ve been into cars all my life. They are my passion. I’ve owned many of them over the decades. When I saw this sweet Alfa, I wanted it! This is your opportunity to grab this fun-in-the-sun, Gold 1986 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce. I LOVE this car! I would OWN it right now if my legs were a little shorter. I’m 6'3" with very long legs. There just isn't quite enough leg room for me. But then 90% of cars made don't have enough leg room for me! Seriously though, I am greatly disappointed that I don't fit. Otherwise this car would be in my driveway instead of heading for yours. It has 87,579 miles and runs great. (That’s 3,500 miles a year!) One of our shorter salesmen drove the car while I evaluated it from the passenger seat. It was a gorgeous day, so naturally, we put the top down. What a glorious feeling cruising in an Alfa Romeo roadster! I read an article about Alfa Romeo cars. Specifically these roadsters. To paraphrase the author, he wrote something like this: "These cars are either, very, very good, or very, very bad. The bad ones have all been parted out. The good ones are the ones still on the roads today." This car, while not pristine is appearance, is ready to be driven and enjoyed on a daily basis. If you are a car tinkerer, or wish to restore it, it’s an excellent candidate for that as well. Either way, every time you get behind the wheel of this Italian beauty you'll be glad you snatched it up. Examine the photos closely. I have highlighted the few physical flaws that I found so that you will not be surprised when you show up to drive it home. Note that the previous owner installed a roll bar. This is a nice safety feature should that highly unlikely event occur. It has a pad that goes over it, held in place with hook and loop fasteners. As you can see, it needs to be reattached on the driver’s side a bit. Or take it off if you want to. The roll bar also stiffens the center of the car body/chassis by tying it together with steel. There is surface rust at the bottom of the rear roll pan. This can be taken care of by anyone with mechanical skills, or let a body man fix it. There is also a little rust by the bottom of the windshield frame as you can see. It is surface rust only. With just a little work by a good body and paint shop this car can be looking terrific! There are some small dings or dents and paint chips on the front part of the hood and nose. Remember, this is a twenty-five year old car. And it’s Italian. The fact that it is still in this good of shape indicates that it was well made, carefully stored and well maintained. Note the tiny cracks in the dash top above the glove compartment. The rest of the dash looks great. Check out those seats! Real Italian leather, twenty-five years old and still looking and feeling great! I’d love to put those in my car! (Which I bought from M.A.T.T!) I love the looks of those wheels. VERY Italian and similar to ones on certain older Ferrari models. Under the hood sits that famous twin-cam Italian masterpiece of an engine. It sounds great, runs great and pulls the car along VERY well. Engine is fuel injected and starts right up. No smoke that I saw or any strange smells either. Just sweet running Italian craftsmanship. The soft top is in excellent condition but for a tear in the plastic window. I believe an upholstery place could simply replace the clear plastic. Or you could simply apply some top quality clear tape to repair it that way. I understand they now make clear duct tape. Either way will keep the water on the outside. Check out that wooden rim steering wheel. That speaks SPORTS CAR loud and clear. Heck, the whole car spells FUN! We tried out the air conditioning. I know, in a sports car? It works but needs some more refrigerant to be it's coolest. I didn’t try the radio and all the other various switches. But the power windows work. You’ll probably want to replace the radio with a more modern one anyway, right? So, there you have it. A classic Italian drop-top two-seater sports car just waiting for the right one to drive it home and love it. Are you the one? Please buy it. I can’t afford leg-shortening surgery! On Sep-08-10 at 16:50:07 PDT, seller added the following information: The top bidder asked me to take photos of the bottom of the car, which I did. He was concerned about rust. I did find a small patch on the left front corner of the driver's side floor and same area on the passenger side floor. Area should be easy to cut out and replace with sheet metal because it's not very large, maybe 4 by 5 inches. Photos are available, but can't be added to an auction that's already been bid on.
