1984 Honda VF500F 500 Interceptor Motorcycle ***Original survivor***Clean***Collectible 1st Year Model*** No Reserve!!! !!!!!!Great Shape!!!!!!Low Mileage!!! Ready to Ride!!! Delivery Available General: Up for auction is a clean, well cared-for, low mileage 1984 Honda VF500F 500 Interceptor motorcycle, in its original Candy Aleutian Blue, Fighting Red and Shasta White paint scheme. If you are looking for an unmolested, first year VF500 Interceptor, I don't think you will find many out there that are much better. This motorcycle has obviously been well maintained and cared for throughout its life. It is equipped with Honda's ground-breaking, 12000 rpm redline, liquid cooled V-four engine and smooth shifting six speed, close-ratio transmission. As you can see from the pictures, it looks great, and best of all, it is ready to ride. It needs NOTHING! This bike would be right at home in any collector's garage or would make any rider a great and unique vintage ride. Mechanical Condition: If you are looking at this listing, your probably know what a landmark bike this model was: it is arguably one of the best handling sportbikes of the '80's, yet it maintained a rider comfort level that allowed it to be used for sport touring and commuting. I bought one of these models, new, in 1984, and this bike, right now, does not feel a great deal different to me from how I remember that bike. This motorcycle is in excellent mechanical condition, and needs nothing but a new rider and a good home. It starts easily and pulls strongly throughout the rpm range. The clutch engages smoothly and the transmission shifts easily. All of the suspension components work well, as do the front and rear brakes. The tires are in good shape: The rear tire has about half its wear left; the front tire has more wear left than that. All of the lights and controls work as they should. There are no leaks apparent anywhere and the engine does not smoke at all or use oil. It is ready to roll! I try to ride every motorcycle I sell at least 50 miles. I do this so that I know exactly what kind of a motorcycle I am selling, and what on the motorcycle needs to be repaired, replaced or adjusted. I put about 90, very enjoyable test miles on this bike. This was enough time in the saddle to convince me that the bike is in very good mechanical shape; it has obviously been well cared-for throughout its lifetime. Everything felt very much as I remember these models from the showroom. The free revving V-four is a joy; smooth and incredibly torquey for a 500cc bike of this vintage. There are no weaves or wobbles. The bike brings my well-proportioned 275 pounds to autobahn speeds smoothly, and back to a stop without any drama. Very Nice. The mechanical bottom line is that this is a very solid motorcycle. It would serve as a great commuter bike, or a weekend pleasure bike, and is ready to take you on a longer distance ride, if that is your desire. Or, if you are a vintage Honda collector, this bike will look right at home with the rest of your collection. Cosmetic condition: As you can see in the pictures, the bike looks great! The paint is in exceptional condition for a bike of this vintage. There is a very small touched-up chip on the left side of the tank, from someone setting the adjustable handlebars too far to the rear. The left side of the fairing has a touched-up, thin scrape along its edge; looks like contact with a wall or other vertical object, and there are some light scrapes on the right hand turn signals, muffler and mirror back, that probably indicate a low speed tip-over on that side. There is also some light damage to the stator cover on the left side, abd a small scrape in the left side tailpiece from an improperly positioned seat latch during closure. All of these flaws can be seen in the attached photos. The "black chrome" on the original mufflers is in good shape; there are some areas of dullness and a few scratches, but nothing serious. There is also some light oxidation on some of the aluminum surfaces. Modifications: The motorcycle looks to be stock with the following exceptions: The paint looks to be original with the exception of the red stripe around the tank, which looks to have been redone. There is no centerstand present on this motorcycle. The original hand grips have been replaced with aftermarket items.
