Vehicle Detail
1983 Honda GL1100 Goldwing Standard "Naked 'Wing" Motorcycle ***Low Mileage***Great Runner!*** No Reserve!!! Delivery Available General: Up for auction is a low-mileage 1983 Honda GL1100 Goldwing Standard in its original black paint. This great-looking bike combines cruiser styling with the reliability and comfort of a Goldwing. This bike runs and rides beautifully. It is equipped with Honda's legendary liquid-cooled flat four engine, adjustable air suspension and shaft drive. This is the last model year of the GL1100 and the final year of production has several distinctive features: cast wheels, larger forks with integrated fork brace, integrated front and rear braking, TRAC anti-dive and a real overdrive high gear. It has just received a new battery, fork seals, oil, filter, and freshly rebuilt and adjusted carburetors. This will make someone a great ride for around town or on the open road. Mechanical Condition: Although this is not a new motorcycle, it is in great mechanical condition, and needs nothing but a new owner and a good home. It runs well throughout the RPM range and shifts very smoothly. All of the suspension components work well, and the brakes are smooth and very well-modulated. All of the standard lights, controls, and instruments work as they should. It has just received a fresh oil and oil filter change. This motorcycle does need new tires. The ones that are on the bike are worn and should be replaced before the bike is ridden any distance. I am willing to arrange having new tires put on the bike AT THE NEW OWNERS EXPENSE. If this is something you are interested in, contact me before bidding and I can issue a quote on installing the kind of tire you would want on the bike. I try to ride every motorcycle I sell at least 100 miles. I do this so that I know exactly what kind of a motorcycle I am selling, and what on the motorcycle needs to be repaired, replaced or adjusted. I put almost 175 miles on this bike while I have had it. The bike works fine: It feels solid and smooth. There are no weaves or wobbles. The bike brings my 275 pounds to highway speeds smoothly, and back to a stop without any drama. Very nice. I took it for a 35 mile ride this morning and was impressed with how well it wears its age. It feels like I remember these bikes feeling when they were fresh from the showroom I do not know what the replacement status of the charging system stator is. I can only state that the engine is charging well now and has no problem keeping the battery up. I also have no knowledge of when the engine timing belts were last replaced. Cosmetic condition: As you can see in the pictures, the bike presents itself well cosmetically. Although the original black paint shows its share of minor scratches and chips, the paint still looks good. See photos. Most of the chrome looks good without pitting or corrosion. However, as you would expect in any well kept motorcycle of this age, there are some chrome surfaces that have some pitting or dullness. In particular, the aftermarket chrome valve covers show extensive pitting and some of their plating is flaking; See detail photos. As is typical of these bikes, there is some oxidation on the aluminum surfaces. All of the lights, controls and indicators on the bike work as they should. When I acquired the bike, its carburetors were in need of repair, cleaning and adjustment. Apparently, it had been running poorly for some period of time since the mufflers shows blueing which is indicative of running in poor tune. In preparation for sale, the carburetors have been completely dismantled, cleaned, several worn parts replaced, and professionally adjusted and synchronized. This work having been done, the bike now runs fine, but the mufflers still show blueing. Please refer to the attached photos. There is a separation on the left side of the rider's portion of the seat, where the rider's seat meets the seat bolster. See attached photo detail . Summary: This is a very good motorcycle at a great price With less than 12,500 original miles, this Goldwing is barely broken in! It represents a lot of value for a relatively small amount of money.
