Designed and built in Italy, the DeTomaso Pantera fell into an early “hybrid” production category that was already proven successful by the AC Cobra, Jensen Interceptor, Facel Vega, and the Sunbeam Tiger! The idea; put a high horsepower, reliable American power plant into a sexy import design and it will sell! The DeTomaso 874 Pantera was another fantastic success story offered by Ford! The Story on This Masterpiece Restored from ground-up and redesigned to reach speeds in excess of 200mph. Everything has been handcrafted from sheet metal. A 5,000+ hour build during a 5-year period. Titled as a 1972 Ford Pantera. It has been restored from ground-up and redesigned to be able to reach speeds in excess of 200mph. Everything has been handcrafted from sheet metal. The engine is a Ford 351C built to NASCAR specifications with an output of over 500rwhp. It is extremely fast and able to beat almost any exotic. It is very reliable and easy to maintain. The cooling system has been updated with an aluminum 6 row radiator. All the cooling tubes have been replaced with stainless steel tubes and high quality rubber hoses. The brake system has been replaced with floating rotors with Billet aluminum that is NASCAR-style. Has Wilwood aluminum 4 piston calipers. All the brake lines replaced with stainless steel lines. Has a new master cylinder and booster. The electrical system was redone and all the gauges are Pro-Comp and Accurate. Features a stereo with GPS, DVD, CD, MP3 and is iPod ready. Also has MSD ignition, Parker funnel hi-rise intake manifold, shaft mount roller rockers to withstand high RPMs, CHI 3V heads that flow at 340 CFM, H-beam rods with custom ARP pistons, steel crank, 4-bolt main block, custom ground camshaft, solid roller, Ferrea valves, and Manley custom springs with titanium retainers and locks to withstand 10,000RPM. The exhaust has been custom made to exit in the center. The shocks have been replaced with adjustable coilovers and Spicer halfshafts rated at 800+hp. The ZF trans-axle has been rebuilt. The wheels are 2 piece custom made 18x10 front and 18x13 rear. Also has a Quickfuel 950 carburetor mechanical secondary and Edelbrock electric fuel pump with a Billet fuel pressure regulator. It took over 5,000 hours to complete the vehicle during a 5-year period. It would take a lot of work and time for someone to duplicate this type of vehicle. The power and the sound of this vehicle is indescribable. You'll feel like you're in a racer that is streetable. These exotics came rather well equipped right from the start, and included the 351ci Cleveland V8 4-bolt main engines with factory exhaust headers in 1972. Other factory equipment included power 4-wheel disc brakes, fully independent suspension, synchronized 5-speed ZF transaxle, rack and pinion steering, air conditioning, leather wrapped steering wheel, 4-point seat harnesses, full dash instrumentation, and power windows!
