Vehicle Detail
1980 Honda GL1100 Touring Goldwing Motorcycle ***Ready to ride***Great Value!*** No Reserve!!! Delivery Available General: Great running older Goldwing. It ran so well when I picked it up, I felt that it warranted cosmetic, as well as some mechanical reconditioning. Cosmetically, she received a much-needed professional full repaint. On the mechanical side, she received new front tire and brakes, foam hand grips, neutral switch, fork seals, battery, oil and filter, starter rebuild, and carburetor cleaning. I used the bike for some early Spring riding because of the effectiveness of the Vetter fairing with its hard to find removable lowers. It runs well and with its custom paint and striping, it looks great too. This motorcycle is equipped with a Vetter Windjammer fairing and lowers, as well as a complete Vetter luggage system. It is equipped with Honda's legendary liquid-cooled flat four engine, adjustable air suspension and shaft drive. Best of all, it is ready to ride! Mechanical Condition: Although this is not a new motorcycle, it is in good mechanical condition, and needs nothing but a new owner and a good home. It runs well throughout the RPM range and shifts very smoothly. All of the suspension components work well, and the brakes are smooth and very well-modulated. All of the standard lights, controls, and instruments work as they should. It has just received a fresh oil and oil filter change. The rear tire is without any visable weather checking or cracking, and has plenty of wear left; the front tire has about 250 miles on it. I try to ride every motorcycle I sell at least 100 miles. I do this so that I know exactly what kind of a motorcycle I am selling, and what on the motorcycle needs to be repaired, replaced or adjusted. I put almost 500 miles on this bike while I have had it. The bike works fine: It feels solid and smooth. There are no weaves or wobbles. The bike brings my 275 pounds to autobahn speeds smoothly, and back to a stop without any drama. Very nice. I took it for a 35 mile ride this morning and was impressed with how well it wears its age. I do not know what the replacement status of the charging system stator is. I can only state that the engine is charging well now and has no problem keeping the battery up. I also have no knowledge of when the engine timing belts were last replaced. Cosmetic condition: As you can see in the pictures, the bike presents itself well cosmetically. The new silver/blue paint was professionally done and looks great and should retain its beauty for a lonf time, The luggage and fairing was painted and striped to match the bike at the same time. Most of the chrome looks good without pitting or corrosion. However, as you would expect in any well kept motorcycle of this age, there may be some chrome surfaces that have some pitting or dullness. As is typical of these bikes, there is some oxidation on the aluminum surfaces. There is also some paint missing on the lower frame, which could be easily touched up; see photos. All of the lights on the bike work, including the quad tail lights on the trunk. There are two separations on the rider's portion of the seat. See attached photos. They coincides with a deep crease in the vinyl, and look as though they have been there for some time. Modifications/Accessories: The Vetter frame mount fairing was the industry standard in 1980, and for good reason. It does a fantastic job of protecting the rider and blends in with the lines of the motorcycle very nicely. This particular example is equipped with the relatively rare optional (and removeable) lowers which protect the rider's legs from inclement weather and cold. The replaceable windshield is in good useable shape. The Vetter luggage setup is very functional and durable. The bags remove easily for transport to a motel room, and the trunk is equipped with an intergrated passenger backrest. All of the latches and locks work properly. Stock handgrips have been replaced with aftermarket foam and chrome models. The mirrors are mismatched, but are fully functional. Summary: This is a good touring motorcycle at a great price With less than 62,000 original miles, this Goldwing is just getting going! With its high quality touring options and fresh paint, it is a special motorcycle that stand out anywhere It represents a lot of value for a relatively small amount of money.
