Vehicle Detail

This is a 1965 King Midget Model III with 9.2 h.p. Wisconsin engine and the original "clicker" automatic (belt drive) transmission. It has been completely rebuilt mechanically. The engine is completely rebuilt with new Zenith carb, new old standard bore block with new rings, overhauled crank and rod, and conversion to breakerless ignition to obviate messing with point setting. The exhaust is new, as are hubcaps, top, side curtains, belts, etc. (most from Midget Motors). All the electrical components were overhauled by the previous owner. The indicated mileage of 5050 miles is almost certainly correct. Everything is factory original or exact modern replacement. The car was apparently last licensed for the street in Texas in 1970 (see windshield inspection and license plate). There is a 3 inch thick stack of receipts, provenance info, manuals, club info, and other paperwork and pictures included. While mechanically very good the cosmetics are in need of restoration (original body color was white). It has several small dings on the fenders, and metal tears at the engine deck lid area of the rear fenders. This can be welded, or new fenders ordered from Midget Motors. The previous owner replaced the hood panel and then did a spray bomb "stop rust" paint job in order to get the car running and out for testing. Since this car is "all there" and completely original I strongly recommend white paint to finish the job. There is a nearly complete spare Wisconsin 9.2 h.p. engine which appears to be ok except for an overbore cylinder (I recommend sleeving it down to original diameter). If you want more "go" that is nearly correct there is a complete and running late 60's Kohler Type 301 engine with the standard 12 h.p. rating included with the car. This the engine used in the last series of Model III Midgets, and while not strictly correct for a 1965 is at least factory correct for a replacement. Just please don't follow the frustrated hotrod crowd and put in a Honda twin or some such monstrosity. I bought this car several years ago in order to teach my then 14 going on 15 year old daughter the basics of how to drive. It served its purpose admirably in that regard, but is now no longer used when she is "borrowing" other family cars . It should now go to a Midget enthusiast who wants a really good and original car to finish for club events, or just to drive now and then around the campground or golf course. The car is sold on a bill of sale with all paperwork necessary to get a title thru one of the "old car" titling services (such as Broadway Title). Please ask any questions thru Ebay email, or call Walt at 724-225-6598. The car is located 1/2 hour from the Pittsburgh, Pa. airport, and we can arrange an inspection/ test drive on short notice. Thank you for looking.
