This 1981 Mercedes 380SL was brought to Indiana from California by my father's neighbor in the late '90's. He sold it to my father around 2002. My dad used it as his "retirement" vehicle. My parents went to Florida in the winter, so his car was garaged in the winter months. After my mom passed away in 2014, the car has not been run very much. It has only had about 2,500 miles put on it in the last 5 years. My father passed away last year. In order to get it in running/selling condition, I had the oil changed, replaced the battery, and put 4 new tires on it. It runs well (I can send videos). The biggest issue seems to be acceleration hesitation after the engine gets warm. The mechanic who changed the oil seemed to think it was due to the fact the car had sat so much, and that fresh fuel, and running the car more frequently, should help. The car is mostly original and in really good shape for it's age. The paint, believed to be original, looks decent, but nowhere near perfect. Known defects include:Two small holes in canvas top, a few deep scratches in the paint, Heat and AC do not work, power antenna does not work, crack in dashboard, seats have a few tears and show some wear. In addition, the mechanic who examined the car noted: Washer fluid bottle cracked, fuel and oil pressure gauges are not accurate, hole in center muffler, oil leaks at the cylinder head gaskets. Removable hardtop, Mercedes car cover, and original radio included.
