DESCRIPTION: We are selling our 1997 Ford Eddie Bauer Explorer which we purchased new from Rittenhouse Kerr Ford. The truck has only 72,500 authorized-dealer-maintained original miles. This garage-kept example is in great cosmetic condition and finished in the very rare and desirable Deep Emerald Green Metallic with Light Prairie Tan Metallic paint scheme. Prior to this failure, the truck was operating exceptionally well since new (without one breakdown); however, two weeks ago during its last start, the engine started normally, ran 3-4 seconds, then stalled. Our Ford dealer conducted an extensive diagnostic review and determined the 4.0L V6 engine jumped time, most likely due to a broken timing chain tensioner and requires a long block replacement (it does not start or run). The top of the engine remains partially disassembled and the parts are boxed in trunk. Please note this truck is being sold as is with no warranty. This rare one-owner example (quite possibly the lowest-mileage, 1997 Eddie Bauer in the country) includes some very desirable options such as the onboard Multi-Function Computer, high-end JBL AM/FM Stereo with 6 Disc CD Player (tremendous sound), Sunroof, Twin Power Seats and Ice-Cold AC. It has newer shocks and mufflers and lots of tread on the sporty GoodYear Wrangler RT/S tires. The Husky all-weather cabin mats and cargo bed mat are also included. We added the heavy-duty 2 inch Reese Trailer Receiver for our bicycle carrier, but may be used to tow larger loads. Please review the pictures as they show this truck's amazing 21-year condition.
