Vehicle Detail
1953 Studebaker Starlight Coupe Was purchase out of southern Missouri in the late 1980's and has been garage kept since. It was disassembled, placed on a rotisserie then blasted and painted with Imron in the late 80's. The project sat through the 90's. Around 2007, the work resumed and the project was converted to a RestoMod. It comes with the Frame, Engine, Automatic O/D Transmission, Rearend, 4 Wheel Disc Brakes, Wiring, Airbags, and Air Conditioning from a 2002 Mercury Grand Marquis. The frame was extended to the correct wheelbase length for the Studebaker. The firewall of the Marquis was installed to make the computer, A/C, brakes, Steering, etc bolt in as engineered. The Marquis ran, drove, and blew cold A/C up to the moment it was disassembled. The Studebaker Body panels are all steel and will need final block sanding and painting. The Cab is mounted using the soft impact absorbent discs from the Marquis. The Rear Quarter Panels will need to be bolted in place. It comes with the Studebaker trim pieces that cover your bolts. The front cap will need to be fitted to the Marquis frame. It also comes with the complete wiring harness from the Marquis. It comes with the original marquis exhaust and is ready for side pipes to be mounted to the frame just under the rocker panel if you'd like that look. The idea was to build an all steel Studebaker that you could get in and cruise reliably with all the modern comforts. However, I have recently inherited my great grandfathers car and am looking to make room and spend time restoring that vehicle. Selling this car in this unfinished state is my loss. I have wanted to finish this car but can not make it fit over greater priorities. There Is No Title! Either it was not issued (due to year of Mfg.) or it has been misplaced over the years since my father purchased it. Since this is still an unfinished project, it is not possible for me to get a title issued. You may want to check with your state for requirements on titling the rebuilt car using a Bill of Sale after the work is finished. It does not have a typical "VIN". The original Studebaker Tag is present and it states: Serial No. Gi2i6379. This Auction has no reserve! This Studebaker is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction if sold. Be sure to ask your questions and make your inspections before you bid. I can be reached by e-mail. You can also call or text to 662-750-4486. Leave a message if no answer. Sold Where-Is As-Is. Shipping is buyer’s responsibility. I will help with the arrangements where possible. Payment in full is due within 7 days of auction end by bank transfer. Funds must clear my bank before you can take possession of the car. On Apr-05-18 at 09:31:28 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had several questions. Thanks! It has been good to speak with each of you. Re. the fit and placement of the front cap, An older picture with the front fenders was just added so that you can see it's fitment on the frame. It bolts to the cab as original, but you will need to fit the nose of it up to the new frame. Re. the frame, yes it can be seen below the body. Ground effects or Cobra/Vet styled side pipes will be needed. A flared fendered and lowered TransAM / CanAm styled look would be great in my opinion. Re. rear wheels, yes they stick out approx. 1". The Stude comes with the Audi A6 wheels that are pictured. You might consider narrower rims with the "front wheel drive offset" if you want to tuck them inside. Re. trim, no it does not come with headlights, taillights, bumbers or any other trim pieces with one exception. It will come with two of the polished aluminum caps that cover the rear quarter bolts. Several parts from the Marquis will come with the car. Including, front inner fenders, wiring, fuel tank, radiator, ac condenser, etc. I hope this helps! Thanks for your interest!
