Up for bid is a rare find. A beautiful senior owned 1986 MERCEDES 560SEL, long wheel base sedan. This is a San Francisco car from new and has only traveled 4300 miles on average per year with 128k actual miles. In 1986 this was the finest sedan money could buy, the top of the line flag ship Mercedes with a original MSRP of over $70,000 in 1986 dollars. These were the last of the hand built, high quality Mercedes Benz before they started cutting corners to appeal to a wider market. This was one of the last real Mercedes Benz when they realized they didn't need to make them this good and for the last 20 years they have not been. This car still has the original paint it left Germany with nearly 30 years ago. It has a clean CAR FAX with no accidents. It does have a few minor scratchs and a few dings, a few nicks on the bumper covers, the right rear has a small ding and some of the clear coat is peeling on the alloys. The grill is missing some of the chrome trim and has some imperfections not perfect but not bad. The interior is very clean with no rips or tears. This is the top of the line with heated seats front and back and power adjustable seats in both the front and the rear, this is the long wheel base with lots of rear space. It has a aftermarket cassette which is missing the face plate. The air does not blow ice cold but all the power equipment seems to operate correctly. This is car is designed to roll down the autobahn at 150 miles an hour for hours at a time. I can say it has never done that but see no reason why it couldn't. This big V8 is very powerful and runs very well. The undercarriage of this automobile shows why people worldwide love original California collector cars. California has a Mediterranean climate which is one in which summers are hot and dry and winters are mild and rainy similar to the regions bordering the Mediterranean Sea. These conditions exist in California from about Cape Mendocino south to Baja, and east to the Sierra Foothills. We do not have snow or salted roads to rust out over time. This is a world class automobile respected the world over it is getting more and more difficult to find low mile examples like the one you see here. You will not be disappointed.
