The paint is gorgeous Plymouth Sassy grass green from a 71 Cuda and it shines like a diamond. The body is straight and body work was nicely done. The truck was solid to begin with and had only trace amounts of rust, barely any to speak of. The truck was completely disassembled and was painted in base clear urethane and then reassembled with a BRAND NEW 1500.00 TAILGATE. Also has brand new windshield. The pinch welds and wheel well openings and lower rocker panels and front and rear valances were taken down to bare metal to remove the old paint and dry spray from the two prior paint jobs and these areas are now as slick as the outside body. The tailgate has hidden latches and modern style F150 cables that replace the old quirky folding rods that it originally came with. The body side moldings are from a 1962 or 63 spring special edition and although the inserts inside them look white, they are actually custom made 3M reflective stripes that look like lightning bolts when light is shined on them at night. Same goes for the F O R D letters on the tailgate. The grill was custom made as were the tubular bumpers and blue dot taillights. Street rod mini mirrors are atop the door frames and new door handles were installed during reassembly. The flip up panels on the top bed sides, hide convenient storage areas that can be used for car wash and detailing supplies as well as folding lawn chairs coolers etc. Windshield wipers were removed permanently and front panel was welded in where the wiper stubs came through the front panel. I don’t think that anyone would actually drive this truck in the rain. All lights, turn signals, horn , interior lighting, cigar lighter, heater, etc work just like they should and the truck has a hidden, custom keyless, push button ignition system. The carpeted bed area is actually a wood framed boxed insert and can be fairly easily removed in one piece if you want to haul something and not get the carpet dirty. There are two different floor panels for the bed that are included which are also easily removed so you can display the truck with a carpeted floor insert or a wood veneer floor insert. I liked both the carpeted look and the wood floor look and could not make up my mind so I just made both. The two surf board racks are VERY EASILY removeable with quick pins if you choose not to haul surf boards. The wheels and tires are 18 inch bullitt wheels with the typical ford 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern. The rebuilt engine and transmission are from a 1971 maverick. 250 cubic inch 6 cylinder and C4 automatic transmission and new exhaust , carb, battery, starter etc. The truck runs drives, stops and steers very well. The 250 inline 6 engine runs pretty darn quick for a 6 cylinder. Most steering and suspension components were replaced and basicly it has a rebuilt suspension. Truck was lowered by removing leafs from the spring stack and believe it or not, the truck drives very nicely. Steering is tight and does not have any slop. There are two foot shaped pedals that BOTH control the brakes. The left pedal is NOT a clutch pedal. We did this because the foot well is narrow and its easier to apply the brakes from the left side of the steering column. Truck has fresh drum brakes on all 4 corners and they work well. Donnie Desinise of complete upholstery (770 318 3214) stitched up the fantastic all custom interior including making the door panels from scratch as well as the custom engine cover and beautiful seats and console and the ultra trick bed insert and folding storage opening covers and everything he did looks awesome. There are 4 battery operated electric fans to cool you down when it’s hot outside, not exactly air conditioning but cool breeze none the less. The headliner consists of very detailed stained wood work and every screw was placed pains takingly semetrical. The headliner itself is a work of art and took many weeks to complete. The truck has retracting seat belts and shoulder harnesses and a very rare padded dash and factory fiberglass lower dash extension panel. The interior also has 5 inside lights, two above the visors , two below the dash and a large police style dome lamp.
