Vehicle Detail

From the collection of Bob Sandgren, long time desert scrambles racer and the only two time winner of the Catalina Grand Prix (1957-58), comes this unrestored, numbers matching, mostly original, and very well maintained 1970 TR6C. This is NOT a barn find or neglected project bike found in the shop corner. This bike has been garaged, licensed, insured, and very well maintained in good working order its entire life. It shows the soft patina of 44 years of use with a few random dings, dents, and scratches, but is a very presentable and solid running survivor. The bike was purchased from the original owner sometime in the mid 1970's and Bob used it sparingly over the years to ride the dirt and gravel back roads near his home in Coos Bay, Oregon. It still wears the old school dirttrack racing tire combo of a Carlisle in the front and a Pirelli in the rear. Both tires hold air and show only minimal signs of sidewall cracking due to age. After a tickle of the carb. the bike starts easy with only 1 or 2 kicks. The motor runs quiet, strong and smooth. The transmission shifts effortlessly and smoothly through all gears. All electrics (charging system, horn, lights, etc) all function properly. The factory installed skid plate is on the bike and in great shape. While the front wheel is original, the original twin leading shoe front brake plate assembly was swapped out for an earlier model single leader as Bob didn't like the grabbiness of the twin leader on the gravel roads. The motor is very dry and leak free with only a small amount of seepage from the front rocker box. In my opinion it isn't seeping enough to warrant replacing gaskets or o-rings yet. The bike is still titled in Bob's name and has good Oregon tags through December, 2014. Bob has been a member in good standing of the Hilltoppers Motorcycle Club of Long Beach, California since first joining in 1953. The bike was repainted approx. 10 years ago with the Hilltopper's club colors of yellow and green. At about the same time the original seat cover and foam had lost its battle with age and the entire seat assembly was replaced with a new one. I think that covers most everything, but please don't hesitate to ask any questions. Buyer responsible for all shipping costs and arrangements. I am willing to transport the bike to Portland or other nearby terminal for transport pick up.
