You are viewing a 1937 Studebaker J-5 Coupe Express. This is an original truck with perfect patina “as-is” or having the potential of being a great restoration project. The 37 coupe express had a production of only 3500 units and very few have the factory original paint. Check out the wheel striping This is J-5 2378. The identification plate and the specification plate have the matching ID number. The truck starts and runs without any problem. The engine does not smoke or leak oil. The truck has never been disassembled. This super straight chassis has all of the original components right down to the factory clips for electrical, fuel and brake assemblies. The fuel tank is straight but needs repair. The steering is without any excess play. The air cleaner is missing. The brakes will need attention. This truck was in dry storage in California since 1992 and will need full maintenance before use. The doors and jambs are absolutely rust free. The bed is nice but the floor will need rust repair in the front. The lower section of the tailgate has rust problems but there is an extra tailgate. The hood, hood panels are straight. The grille has issues on the bottom of the assembly. The original paint in the jambs still has a shiny gloss. The gauges are excellent but the truck needs a wiring harness. The speedometer reads 62,000. The truck has the factory original color matching gear shift knob and steering wheel. The horn operates as it should. The windows, wind-wings and cowl vent operate perfectly. The back of the seat, headliner, door panels and kick panels are factory original and are perfect for patterns. The seat bottom is original but the covering is not original. The floor panels have surface rust. The firewall pad is as good original as you’ll ever see. The truck is equipped with the factory heater. The truck has a clear California "title only" title. It is currently not registered for the road. The 1937 plates are DMV clear and could be registered to the truck. This is the most beautiful of all coupe express trucks.
