Vehicle Detail
1977 Porsche 911S Targa, rare Irish Green (last year for this color) with cork colored interior, numbers matching (engine number 6274209). Options include: rare wheel well anodized aluminum trim, leather steering wheel, koni shocks, Fuchs alloy wheels and Blaupunkt radio. This targa currently has about 99,800 original well cared for miles, was purchased new at Centennial Porsche Audi in Eugene, OR and is a documented 3 owner car that has always resided in Oregon. Please click link to online photo album with over 150 pictures here: https://picasaweb.google.com/104384934603815286934/77911IrishGreen?authkey=Gv1sRgCPu1y86AyJWoswE and a Youtube video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRJL1c2eZ1s Also feel free to call me if you have questions 503-860-4740 This car is all original including paint, interior, targa top, factory installed Sigla made in West Germany windshield with Porsche logo, wheels and wheel finish etc. This Porsche was a Concours preservation class winner at the prestigious Forest Grove Concours d’ Elegance (Forest Grove, Oregon) a few years ago. This 911S is complete including the original tool kit, leather Porsche key pouch, owner’s manual, touch up paint (dried), spare wheel and tire, jack, air pump, and certificate of authenticity from Porsche. This targa is factory original including the factory installed smog equipment. This Porsche runs and drives fantastic, and needs nothing but a new owner to take good care of it. This car starts right up even after sitting for a few weeks (I keep Stabil in the fuel). The engine doesn’t smoke, leaks little to no oil and runs and drives great. Everything works except the radio. This car appears to have original suspension bushings that may need to be replaced in the future, the shocks etc. are newer and good. The brakes are excellent as is the transmission which shifts smooth and has good synchros. This car has no rust, no previous accident damage and fantastic panel gaps etc. I’m the owner of this car with a clean and clear title. My guess is that this car is in the top 1-2% of unrestored, “mid-year” (1974-1977) Porsche 911 in the world today. As they say, “they are only original once”. 74-77 911’s get flack because some of them get pulled head studs etc. This car runs great and has good head studs. This car was well cared for and always resided in Oregon which has a mild and cool climate which is good for aircooled engines. Historically by 1977 some of the potential engine issues were resolved and improvements were made, these cars have the “oil bypass modification”, the engine tin between the cylinder modification (better cooling) and Divlar lower head studs (stronger). In addition to that this particular car has a “pop off valve” in the air cleaner housing and the chain tensioners were rebuilt and the valves adjusted (less than 1000 miles ago). Service records for major service items, within the last 10,000 miles include: 99,180 miles 4-22-2011 $1313.04 in repairs including, rebuild of chain tensioners, oil change, spark plugs, fuel filter, brake fluid replaced, valves adjusted. 97,006 miles 4-13-2010 $1056.62 install pop off valve, tune and adjust, replace rear shocks, replace cam oil lines. 92,185 miles 6-21-07 $4909.88 oil seals, fuel hose, new complete clutch kit, release arm, pilot bearing, bell crank bushing, fuel injectors and seals, air filter housing, intake manifold gaskets and sleeves, rotor and distributor cap. 90,476 miles, 7-0-06 new toyo tires $410.92 90,445 miles, oil return tubes replaced 6-23-06 $518.85 At around 70,000 miles the exhaust studs were replaced, according to the included receipts. 1974-1977 Porsche 911 are showing good gains in value in the last few years and have achieved collector car status. These cars maintain a lot of the classic early 911 “narrow body” good looks, with bright non-blacked out trim etc. These cars are still light and nimble and can be purchased for a fraction of the price of the 1973 and earlier cars in similar condition. CIS is a great fuel injection system and these cars get good gas mileage and they start easily when cold. From 1976 on Porsche started “galvanizing” 911 bodies and vastly improved the undercoating systems which makes these cars much less prone to rust than earlier 911. Lastly I think the steering wheel, suspension, heater, cold start system and seats are very nice improvements over earlier cars and the impact bumpers make these models less “fragile” and prone to costly damage.
