Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a very rare and desirable 1950 Norton International Model 30 (500cc) Motorcycle. One of the most iconic British Motorcycles in History. This is no ordinary example - First, I purchased this bike from the original owner! - Who is still alive and has become a great friend. Second, the front end, forks and brakes, are off of the Norton Manx that finished in 3rd place in the 1949 Daytona 200 ridden by Tex Luse. The braking is much better than stock! Around 1984, the owner decided to restore the bike both mechanically and cosmetically. To rebuild the engine, the owner chose to have Ray Petty, Norton's top rider and mechanic in the 1960's, to do the rebuild. Since the owner was a pilot for Pan Am, he flew the engine to England personally to have the work completed. Included in the photos is a copy of the bill sheet of the work was done on the engine. The remaining restoration work was done by Manx Motors in Sebastopol, California. The bike is fitted with its original Amal TT carburetor. The gas tank and oil tank have been recently professionally re-painted. The lettering and pin striping are all done by hand and then the tanks were clear coated. I've own the Norton for 6 years and have put approximately 400 plus miles on the bike. This spring I ruptured my Achilles and now am unable to ride the bike. Up until, then I was riding the bike 2 to 3 times a week, weather permitting. You can choose to show or ride this bike - it needs nothing. This is a rare chance to own a piece of Norton history. After Norton established itself as the number one racing motorcycle in the world, they decided to build a bike for the amateur public to race in Junior or Clubman racing - building approximately a year! It took me 5 years of searching to find this bike. The bike is being sold without reserve. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. If you need additional information / pictures / or would like to schedule a viewing, please contact me. Thank you for looking . On Jul-27-13 at 12:03:14 PDT, seller added the following information: Also included is a set new fenders which match original fenders before the 1949 Daytona front end / brakes / forks were added to the bike. Please see pictures.
