Vehicle Detail

clancarroll store 1971 Monte Carlo show car This beauty is definitely a head-turner. It has been a garage-kept show car and has less than 1000 miles on it since restoration. Custom paint, balanced & blueprinted engine, & more. I purchased this car from the folks that built and restored it - a father & son team. The father is a meticulous perfectionist, and the son is a race car driver who builds his own engines. This is the third one of this classic body style that they had done. They started with a rust-free southern car and then did a frame-off restoration. Anything not restorable was replaced with original OEM parts. The interior is camel brown and is all original. The only thing they replaced was the carpet, but they never really liked the dark carpet they put in, so they ordered new molded carpeting that matches the carpet on the door panels. They never got the chance to install it however, so it is included with the car. I always thought that this car would look good with white tuck and roll interior. The only reason they left it original was because it was in such excellent condition. The dash has full gauges plus a tachometer. They finished off the exterior with a custom paint job. It's an iridescent two-stage, plum purple, pearl paint. It's one of those chameleon paints that changes color depending on how the light hits it, as you can tell by the photos. Then they had a custom pin-striping job put on by one of the most renowned pin-stripers in northern Michigan. Everything is new on this car - tires, brakes, exhaust, suspension - everything. It has air shocks in the rear, new tires, new battery, American Racing aluminum wheels, dual exhaust, and more. But under the hood is where the real changes have been made. They replaced the original 350 with a special-built, balanced and blueprinted, small block 400. Here are some of the engine components: Aluminum high-rise intake Holly dual feed carb Edelbrock aluminum heads Roller rockers Headers Accell high performance ignition Racing cam Double roller timing chain Moroso deep sump oil pan All of the internals of the engine are top of the line products, including bearings, rod & cap bolts, oil pump, pistons, rings, etc. They had planned on installing a fluid harmonic balancer, but realized at the last minute that they forgot to order it. Everything was set to get the engine balanced and blueprinted, so they had to go with the stock balancer. This is the only thing that they wanted to do to this engine that didn’t get done. Because of the high torque of this engine, they suggested that it would probably be a good idea to change it out. You can order one from JEGS for about $200 and it’s fairly simple to install. This has a Turbo 350 transmission with a shift kit installed, and a 3:42 10-bolt posi-traction rear axle. The original odometer reading is 51995 miles, but there is less than 1000 miles on this car since it's been restored. It’s never been driven in ice, snow or road salt. It's been mainly used as a show car and has been garage-kept and covered. They won several trophies with this car, including a best-of-show. Also included are a current parts catalog and a complete assembly manual. This is a high performance engine that requires high octane fuel. If you are looking for a nice classic muscle car for your personal enjoyment, this car is ready to go. And a little tweeking and a good thorough detailing would bring it right back up to crisp show condition. If you are going to register this car in Michigan, I have a 1971 Michigan plate that you can take down to the Sec. of State’s office and have re-instated as a permanent tag. This is truly a one-of-a-kind Classic Monte Carlo. One of the last of the great muscle cars. A $1000 non-refundable deposit is required via PayPal within 48 hours of closing. The balance can be made in cash when the vehicle is picked up.
