83 Plymouth Horizon, Smokey Yunick Hot Vapor engine test car. 9404 Miles!!! This Horizon was one of several vehicles that Smokey used to test his Hot Vapor engine design. The bracket for the distance and mileage wheel is still bolted to the back bumper. The hot vapor engine is NOT in the car but replaced by a 2.2 engine with only a few miles on it. You can see in the photo under the hood where the firewall/cowl area was modified for the Hot Vapor engine. The heater was also removed and a plate covers the hole in the firewall. The special gauges were mounted by Smokey on the right side of the dash as seen in the photo. Smokey’s match book is still in the glove box with other items. See photos of title and bill of sale from Chrysler when sold to Smokey for $1.00 with no warranty. This car is not perfect but a VERY nice example with history. The interior is just like new but needs the headliner replaced because it is sagging on the driver’s side. There is some yellowing of the plastic in some places from the sun. The wheels on the right side have some rust due to where it had been setting under a roof for almost 20 years. I will include the two nice ones in the photo. Other than surface rust on the front and rear suspension there is NO rust on the body . There are a few nicks and chips on the car and to be really nice I would repaint the hood and valance below the front bumper. I put new calipers on the front and pads because they frozen up from setting. I haven’t driven the car on the road for several years because of the 30 year old original tires. I originally bought this car from Smokey’s estate to drive to work but just didn’t think that was right and I didn’t want to transfer the original title. Low reserve so bid to buy!
