Vehicle Detail

Here is my 68 Fairlady Roadster up for sale. I never considered that this would be one of the cars to leave the collection but its time to let this Fairlady go to another good home. First off I would like to say that if I didn't have to list this car then I certainly would not. However, there is a dollar amount that I am not willing to go below, and being that this is such an unusual vehicle, its really hard to classify it within a proper price. This vehicle is not only special in the way of being a rare 2000 model, it has unique Datsun history and has definitely seen its share of glamour and glory in its lifetime. Price basically comes down to that unique buyer that MUST HAVE this piece! However like i said, i would much rather keep her then give her away. This car is very valuable from the investment standpoint also and im hoping the new potential owner(s) understand that there is A LOT more to this fairlady then just an engine swapped Datsun. I will include everything I can think of but will likely add to this description as needed. Some History: Back in the late 90's when the 300zx (Z32) model was discontinued, some Nissan dealers began to restore 240z's and other unique classic datsuns for the showroom floor either for display or for sale. Well, this Fairlady Roadster was one of those "retired" classics that sat on a showroom floor for years after which it spent several more years to come in storage. I heard about this Fairlady becoming available, and after a couple of phone calls and a favor or 2 later I was the very fortunate owner of this once retired Roadster. After my purchase, i soon came to realize that the 2000 engine, although fun in its own right, just didn't offer the reliability and extra power that I thought she needed. I should mention that I am the Founder/Owner of a Tuner shop in So. California Called Simtec Motorsports. We specialize in tuning, restoring, modding etc. of Datsuns and Nissan high end vehicles. My Goals for this roadster was first and foremost reliability (since the nostalgia of breaking down every so often in an old car gets old). I wanted a fairlady I can jump into and drive anywhere without worrying about all the little issues that come with a classic car. I also wanted more power, but nothing too outrageous. Our mission is to build fun cars! That doesnt always mean the most power. ...think of this Roadster as a Fairly quick street Legal Go Kart! It is very very fast and fun through the canyons. Very easy to handle and drive this car well. That being said, this car is very well mannered, and very reliable. Every single person that i have ever let drive this car has wanted it, and so will you. There is nothing on the street in this price range that not only stands apart from the crowd, but is also a show stopper for the sheer, charm and character she possesses. If you want that UNIQUE head turner that is one of a kind on the streets AND at the car shows then look no further! She has also done several track days and has had her share of fun at these events. This is the type of car that you take out on a beautiful sunny day with that special somebody and drive through wine country, the beach, or any other destination for that matter because the journey really DOES become part of the fun. It will add years to your life and provide you with years of joy. Why gamble your money in the stock market. This car will NEVER depreciate! There are less and less of these on our roads every year. Some still getting parted out, some getting lost in wrecks, and quite a few now are getting exported back out to other collectors around the world. So like I said, this will never depreciate. There are very few cars nowadays (all makes considered), that you can confidently purchase and know you wont lose money on in the future. ...let alone a car that you can actually enjoy while it appreciates in value. Its a win win situation for anyone that buys this gem. ...back to the history. After owning it for some time I was contacted and asked if she can be used for the display at the debut of the Datsun Museum in Temecula where she spent quite some time parked next to MR K's Fairlady Z (the yellow g-nose seen in pics). Since then she has been used on rare occasion to attend shows and driven through the canyons. however, she spends most of the time now stored in our collection. Its time for her to tear up the tarmac again with the next lucky owner. Details and Condition: Since she was used so frequently for some time, there are definitely bumps and bruises around the body. The biggest issue is the driver side fender that was damaged during an incident. I have a replacement fender that I will include with the sale. The rest of the body has minor flaws but all in all looks like a very nice example. The interior is also in good shape. Please note* This car is setup as a TRUE roadster which means No Top. ...however, if the new owner would like a top I can most likely locate one after the sale. Also, since she has been in storage for some time i would like to go through and make sure everything is ok for normal street use. I will do this AFTER the sale since im not certain it will meet my asking price. So after the sale I would need a few days to go through everything which im sure the new owner would not mind. The engine and 5 speed are out of a 1995 240sx with around 85k miles on it and it uses the factory nissan ecu and all components for the KA24de. Its still on the original clutch. Everything else is fairly stock as far as brakes and suspension go, but since these cars were designed as race cars from the factory, it doesnt take much to make them awesome. As with any classic car (much like owning a home) your'e never done working on it. She can definitely still use some attention in a few places (i.e. a nicer gauge set, some cleanup here and there) but thats all fun "weekend warrior" type work. All the Hard stuff has been handled. Bid with confidence. This is a great car with a great history and comes from a reputable shop. Good Luck, and thanks for looking. On Feb-24-13 at 00:21:42 PST, seller added the following information: A few IMPORTANT details I did not mention: a) Regarding the ORIGINAL 2000 Engine. I DO have the original block and it will be included in the sale. Also, I should mention that the swap was done in a way where the car CAN be returned back to original without too much trouble. Since it is a special vin (being a genuine 2000) I wanted to make sure I did not affect the value of the original car and approached the motor swap with that in mind. b) The exhaust manifold used in this swap is actually a Turbo manifold. ...that means if for any reason the new owner would like a huge power boost, one of the important key components to turbocharging her is already installed. We can also make any additional modifications to her that you would like After the sale is complete. c) The interior is in very nice shape and I would rate it an 8.5-9 out of a 10. The driver seat is a racing support seat made by "MOMO", the passenger seat is an original Roadster 2000 Bucket seat. The 4 point roll bar features a crossbar that the harness attaches to. There are aftermarket gauges for oil pressure, water temp, and tachometer, however there is no working speedometer and the remaining original gauges that are still in use are the voltage and fuel level. (im having trouble attaching more pictures for some reason, but please check back and hopefully i will have them uploaded soon) d) The wheels are Konig Rewind 15x7" wrapped with 205/50/15's and as you can see, they fit her perfectly. On Feb-25-13 at 09:08:23 PST, seller added the following information: MORE PICS!...after several attempts to load up more pics (unsuccessfully) I made a link instead. Here are some more pictures. ...apparently they dont allow "clickabe links either) please cut and paste the following address ....simtecmotorsports.com/roadsterpics.htm...
