Vehicle Detail

1965 Pontiac 2+2 convertible 92657 (currently) Documented miles Original colors PHS documented, car originally had a black top according to the documentation. I bought this car in 1996 from Tom Mack Classics in Charlotte North Carolina at the spring 1996 Carlisle car show as a driver. I have documentation from that purchase stating it has the original 421 engine that was upgraded to a tri-power set up and upgraded to HO specs . I also have copies of the build sheet, transportation from California to NC in 1995. Also paperwork showing it was sold by Allison Pontiac in San Jose in 1989, and the California title transfering it from that owner in 1994, thru Tom Mack and to me in 1996. (at that time we lived in Vermont) When I bought the car and drove it back to Vermont it was a nice driver. In the fall of 1997 I stripped the car to an empty shell on the chassis and took it to have the body stripped (on frame restoration) and put back to black. All the sheet metal was and is original. At the same time I had a new top, had the interior redone, chrome replated. Car has been maintained as necessary, I have driven it 13,000 miles since I purchased it in 1996. Has always been garaged under a car cover. The body and paint is still extremely nice after all these years. The underside was not detailed, no rust, just not detailed, I'd rather drive and enjoy my cars than show them with mirrors. As with any old cars with a 15 year old restoration, the car is not perfect, there is a very small tear, about 1/2" square on the top boot that I glued from behind, there are minor paint touchups and a few "hard" bumps about the size of a pencil eraser at the bottom of the right quarter panel below the stainless. Where the factory uses body filler or lead on the seam between the quarter panel and the panel the trunk hinges to on the driver's side there is a crack in the paint about 2" long that has been there for 4-5 years, but hasn't grown. This is a used car that I wouldn't hesitate to drive anywhere. It has a lage 26 gallon tank and gets 14-16 mpg if you keep your foot out of the outer carbs, if you don't you won't believe the power this car has, so silently and smooth. 8 lug wheels This is a rare column shift car, I installed the console because I like the looks of them, but only attached it at the dash, I didn't drill holes in the floor.
