He just bought it back from the same owner last month! ** This car is immaculate and would be an excellent addition to anyones collection ! Chevrolet marketed the 1978 Corvette Pace Car Replica as a limited edition model. The exterior paint matched the original pace car's black and silver colors. A red pinstripe divided the two colors. Front and rear spoilers were added to the car to further differentiate the Corvette Pace from standard Corvettes. Indianapolis Pace Car decals came with the car, but were not applied at the factory, but rather at the dealership level. Some owner's opted to not have the decals installed, but kept them in their original plastic wrapping to enhance collector value in later years. A gray cloth interior was standard, with silver leather optional. The Corvette Pace Car also came with other Corvette options as standard equipment. Some of these were power windows, removable glass roof panels, polished alloy wheels and a tilting and telescoping steering wheel. 1978 was the 25th anniversary of Corvette. To celebrate a competely re-designed body was rolled out with new "fastback" styling. All Corvettes this year came with special 25th anniversay badging. The 1978 Corvette was the pace car for the Indy 500. Chevrolet created a limited edition pace car replica. Production of the pace car replica was limited to one for every Chevrolet dealership.
