Vehicle Detail

Nice condition, very original example last of the “real” Land Cruisers. This one has not been messed with. The paint, interior, drive-train, etc is all original, down to the factory radio/cassette deck. Never in an accident, a true survivor! There's 50 additional hi-res photos of this vehicle on Flickr. You can click on each image for the full size view. http://www.flickr.com/photos/89439768@N06/You are welcome to phone with questions: 541-295-0457 West Coast Time Jon. I’m the 3rd owner of this vehicle and have had it since 1996. We’ve used it as a reliable, safe, family car. The most “off-road” it has seen would have been a long gravel driveway. It drives great and is totally reliable. The 4-wheel drive functions well, as does the air-conditioning, and other major systems. It has been well maintained and needs nothing in the way of major repairs. But it is starting to show its age and does need some small repairs and the interior is starting to have some issues. Basically it needs a new owner who has the enthusiasm for this vehicle to make everything as right as it can be. I’m a “car guy”, but this was my reliable driver not one of my toys. Mechanical: Within the last year the radiator has been replaced with a brand new unit, all the drive belts have been replaced. The brake system was flushed, and a new thermostat was done at the same time. Oil and filter were just done. It weeps just a bit of fluid, I think from the transfer case or transmission, but nothing out of line for a vehicle this age. The speedometer head bearing is shot and will need to be rebuilt or replaced. It functions fine but is getting very noisy. I tried lubing it, but that only quiets things down for a short period. I can’t think of any other mechanical issues. Electric windows, air, etc. all work as should (but ask questions as I can’t remember everything offhand). Interior: Mostly nice with a perfect dashboard top, good head-liner, seats, etc. but showing some age and damage in spots. Here’s a rundown of the problems. The carpet in the cargo area is shot, and there’s damage to both fender-well covers back there as well. The carpet around the shifter is “pilled”. The tops of the door panels are starting to crack around the door locks. One of the rear headrest covers has split along the bottom side. The rear shoulder belts are tatty. These are actually used replacements I bought after our dog chewed up the originals. They are not terrible but not as nice as they should be. The plastic shrouds around lap-belts up front are worn and cracked. Driver-side floor mat is completely worn out. Switch cover on driver’s door for the passenger window is loose and needs to be repaired or replaced. Some of the plastic molding in the cargo area is scratched up. Body: Overall the body is very straight and the original paint is very good. Typical chips, scuffs and scratches on the doors and quarters. There is no rust damage on the body except for a small spot under the right rear tail-light which has bubbled a bit but is not broken through. Some issues: The chrome on the plastic grill is starting to “bubble” in spots. Lots of small rock chips on the front of the hood and lower valance. The hood has two small Bondo repairs along the front edge. The previous owner had installed a bug-shield and ran too long a screw from the inside piercing the exterior sheet metal. He did it twice before he noticed and went to a shorter screw! I left the holes as-is for years but about a year ago filed them, filled with Bondo and brushed some touch-up paint on them. It’s a not a great repair, but it’s not that noticeable either. The rubber weather stripping is not terrible but is showing its age. It is ripped along the driver’s door from a “hanger vs. door lock” incident. There’s some paint scratches on the pillar from the same. Chrome on the bumpers is good. The right rear rubber bumper cap is dented. Chrome on the wheels is decent with some surface rust in the seams.Tires are fine for around town but are getting pretty worn and should be replaced.Spare is like new and may be original?Payment: Winning bidder will send a $500 deposit through Paypal and the remainder of the selling price via bank transfer, certified bank check, or cash in hand.Shipping/Pick up: Local pick up or shipping is entirely the responsibility of the buyer. But I will help in anyway I can and make myself available to your shipper if needed. If you want to fly into the Medford Airport I will pick you up.Again, please email or phone with any questions. I've tried to address everything I thought needed to be but there's always something........On Nov-07-12 at 16:14:57 PST, seller added the following information: One small problem I just discovered. I filled the window-washer fluid resevoir for the rear hatch as I had not used it in a long time. The pump works fine but there's a split or hole in the tubing inside the rear hatch and the fluid is draining into the hatch. So the tubing will have to be replaced before you can use window-washer fluid on the back window. On Nov-08-12 at 13:36:22 PST, seller added the following information: I've added 10 photos of the under carriage to the Flickr site linked above. Sorry for the dark pics but the weather here is not good right now.
