Vehicle Detail
This is a very nice clean & straight bone stock original investment grade rust free Arizona survivor K5 Chevy Blazer 4x4 with convertible top that always starts & runs & drives great. It's never been wrecked and has no bondo but was repainted yellow (from factory white) by the 2nd owner who I aquired it from in a local auction after sitting in a pole barn for seven years. The 2nd owner bought it in 1990 from an Arizonan with 142k on odometer and only put 24k on it over the next 15 years. It was only used as a logistical support vehicle on his ranch which supplied food & cold beverages to his small fleet of CJ8 Scramblers modified to accomodate tourists on sightseeing trips over Reddington Pass road just outside Tucson, which is a graded gravel road with nice overlooks of the city and nowhere requires 4x4. That business folded in 2005 and the truck was stored inside ever since. He claimed it had the 305 ci engine rebuilt and a new clutch disc installed at the time of purchase but unfortunately kept no documentation to prove it however I can confirm as a reputable local 4x4 shop owner whose sold many a classic early Bronco & Toyota 4x4 for over $10k on eBay over the last decade that the heavy duty SM465 Granny Gear 4 speed transmission shifts smooth and the SBC engine always starts on a pump & click with no smoke, no noises, no leaks & no issues. When I acquired this truck named "Pebbles" I simply cleaned out the fuel system (which surprisingly wasn't too bad considering) and then tore apart the the stock quadrajet carb & rebuilt it, added a new clear fuel filter, tuned it up with new plugs and other ignition parts, performed a compression check (about 140 psi on all cylinders), reset the timing, changed the oil in all the cases, bled all the brakes and power steering fluid, filled the tank with 91 octane Chevron fuel, had it cleaned up, then drove it for 10 straight miles through town. She turned lots of heads. After that drive I gave the underside a thorough inspection & noticed only the front output shaft of the transfer case had developed a small leak so that seal was immediately replaced & drivetrain is now happily leak free. She ran & drove great albeit a bit cold blooded when first starting for about 60 seconds but then performed flawlessly. I've since driven it less than 50 additional miles but have started it cold about 30 times and there's no issues to report except intermittently in the exhaust you can sometimes hear slight rattling around in the muffler like a loose baffle but only when you release the throttle at high RPM. Cat seems good but bottom line is new owner will likely want to invest in a new exhaust within the next 12 months as this one is not particularly loud or leaking but in my judgement will need replaced within the next year as it's very old. All 4x4 actuation works perfect as designed with good working auto locking hubs. The body & frame & suspension is nice & tight & rust free as you can see from the pictures. The 31 inch tires & chrome rims are mismatched but in reasonably good shape with good tread and feel normal down the road. The convertible fiberglass top is removable & not cracked but is missing the 2 side panes of glass. This glass is not curved so is reasonably inexpensive to replace. The rear window glass is in tact and rolls up & down perfectly with the hand crank out back of the tailgate. The front chrome bumper is straight and the back bumper is also nice and straight but has had a 2" square hole carved in with a torch underneath the temporary tag shown in pics that was used to mount a spare tire. These rear bumpers were made for at least 8 years and are cheap to aquire in the aftermarket. As far as the electronics & gauges everything works except for the AC which has a noisy clutch on the compressor (still R12) plus the fuel gauge only seems to work intermittently when the tank is over 1/3rd full. For a 28 year old truck the body is straight & clean with no rust but does have some tiny dings & minor blemishes that are hard to notice from afar but are shown in the close up pictures, such as a partially busted marker lens on the front right corner panel, a couple small screw holes in the front top of the hood where a hood ornament was mounted, a tiny ding in the left rear corner of the hood, a tiny ding in the right rear of the tailgate, a scratch in the paint of the left front fender, a minor rub in the lower right door panel, plus some small holes around the bed and top of cab & around tailgate where rivets once held a bikini top. Interior & door panels & dash are in great shape for their age. Aftermarket seat covers compliment original seats which are not at all in bad shape for this era of truck. Seats slide back & forth normally. Rear deck and floorboards were sprayed with a spray on bedliner but hide no rust except for some very minor surface rust just behind the seats. Factory rear seat was missing and is not included. Undercarriage has no rust on the frame or axles. For any questions prior to bidding (or after) please don't hesitate to call Karl at 520-408-ROCK. This truck has been represented as accurately as possible by a longstanding & reputable eBay seller who now lives in Arizona but who originally hails from Chicago and understands what folks from the Rust Belt back East are looking for in a restoration candidate. This is definitely such a vehicle and is offered at a very reasonable price considering what it is and what it can become. As such it stands unique as a terriffic investment opportunity that has no hidden surprises nor equals at this price in America. Clean Arizona Title is notarized & ready to go. Note that your bid in this public auction constitutes a "legally binding contract for sale" so please don't bid impuslively or without the funds to abide by the terms below. A $1000 PayPal deposit is required within 48 hrs. of the auction close and the full balance is due 72hrs. after that.
