Vehicle Detail
We have 2 convertible Mets and don't drive this one often and it just sits under a cover in my driveway. This is a REAL 1954 Nash Metropolitan Convertible. Not a hardtop with the top lopped off like so many of them are on Ebay. You can tell by the VIN tag - 541 = convertible 542= hardtop It is also a super solid original car, not a bondo covered rusted out hulk - again like most seem to be. Solid metal rockers, body etc. At some point in this car's life ( sometime between 1954 and before I got it ), had the original 1200 cc engine & transmission replaced with a later model Met 1500 cc engine and transmission so parts are easier to come by, and it runs/drives better and actually goes over 40 mph now. . Thousands have been spent recently freshening up the car. It is a very nice local around town driver and a local show car winner that elicits positive comments wherever we go. It is not a Concours quality restored trailer queen show car. If that is what you are after, you have to spend $ 50,000 and up like the car that recently sold at the BJ auction. Items changed in the last year: 1. New wiring harness 2. New top 3. New interior/carpet/door panels, hardware, 4. Complete new brake system including master cylinder, flex hoses, shoes, wheel cylinders 5. New chrome trim parts throughout inside and out6. New weatherstripping Like all Mets and British cars, there are quirks but that is part of the "fun" of owing a Met or any British car. The headlight switch is back in the car although it does not show in the photo . I installed a modern ignition switch where the lighter used to go for reliability and a modern headlight switch where the heater fan motor switch used to go so it all appears original but is more reliable. Reproduction and new parts are available and plentiful though many sources and there are lots of clubs for support and events. MOCNA is the national Met club we belong to and MRS is where our new and reproduction parts have been sourced. It is a solid and well cared for 58 year old car that you can hop in and drive for fun today. Located in Naples FL. It is in my driveway if you want to see it and drive it- email for address. As it is a 58 year old used car, there are absolutely NO warranties expressed or implied. It is a used car and being sold as/is where is. We will work with you if you are from anywhere in the world so feel free to bid if you are in Europe or anywhere else. NADA Collector Car Price Guide value for this car in it's present condition is $ 18,800.00 If you are interested, make an offer through the system or email us if you have questions. To everyone who has been emailing and asking about a trade - we are only remotely interested in 1955/1956 Dodge or Plymouth cars so anything other than that, we don't want it.
