Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 RE-LISTED: Previous buyer claims he cannot complete the transaction due to immediate family issues. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I selected super-sized pictures so the car could be better seen, but apparently didn't get them (good 'ol eBay!) If you would like to see the full sized pictures you'll have to send me your email. Or, the pictures I uploaded here are high resolution (150 pix/in.) so maybe you can copy them and enlarge with your photo program to get a better look. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is NOT a “wanna be” Trans Am GT. This is NOT a Firebird or regular Trans Am that someone put a rear spoiler on it and made a clone and started calling it a “GT”. This IS the real deal! If you know your Trans Am’s you will know when you look at the picture of the glove box code label that the “Y83” means it’s a real GT option package. Trans Am GT’s were only made for about 1/2 year during the first half of the 1994 model year. That is the only time Trans Am GT’s were manufactured (don’t mistake it with the GTA option that was offered in earlier model years). There were a little over 6,400 produced (I don’t recall the exact number). This total included the white and blue anniversary edition Trans Am’s as well. 79,324 original one owner miles. I purchased this car new in February, 1994 in Clarksville, TN. But don’t be taken in by the “79,324 original one owner miles”. The car is in good condition for its age, especially considering it has not been “babied” all its life. It has seen 145+ MPH (before mods) and has gone as quick as 12.38 @ 113 MPH in the quarter on a poorly prepped track with wheel spin and wheel hop. The MPH indicates that with good traction the car should have gone 12.0 or possibly an 11.9! But the car is certainly not perfect, though it could be close with a little TLC. I would classify it as a minor project car. Most everything works, just some things not so well and a couple things not at all. The window motors work but are slow; the radio works best with just the rear speakers on as the front speakers crackle. As I understand it this is caused by the radio, not the speakers. If the radio was serviced the speakers would work fine and so would the redundant steering wheel controls (they stopped working at the same time the front speakers did). But for those who may want to upgrade the sound system this is a moot point and a great excuse to put something better in! The interior is in excellent condition with the exception of the drivers floor mat. When you’re hammering the gas pedal a lot with your right foot your heel has a tendency to wear the mat out ;-) The seats are perfect and show little sign of any wear, even with 79,000 miles on them. (They have not been recovered or repaired. What you see is the original seats). The hatchback “struts” (for lack of the correct term) need to be replaced, as they do not hold the hatch up. The T-Tops are fine and do not leak like many do and are in good shape, but the rubber trim does show some weathering (I find this strange considering that the car has been kept inside most of its life, but it is what it is.) The tires are almost new and the brakes have plenty of life left. For the most part the car has been in storage for the past 4-5 years. Maybe 5-6 years(?) - I’m loosing track of time.Something I forgot to mention in the previous listing is the passenger quarter panel has been re-painted. This was done just a few months after I purchased the car. The reason was vandalism. There was no structural damage, just superficial. I'm not sure why this doesn't show up on the Auto Fax report, but it doesn't. As a bonus I am throwing in a set of four, 5 spoke chrome Trans Am wheels from a ’97 Trans Am. They are the factory 16x8 wheels and include the center caps and lug nut covers. These are worth $300-$400 by themselves, depending on the market. They need to be cleaned, but otherwise are in very good condition with no curb rash or other damage. There is a picture of them. They are a direct replacement for the original “swirl” wheels that are on the car. I was always going to swap them out, but never got around to it. The car looks much better with the chrome wheels in my opinion. But the buyer will have both sets to choose from. The new tires that are on the car will fit the chrome wheels, so all you have to do is have the tires switched to the chrome rims. I also have the original owners manual and window sticker. Below is a list of the modifications I can remember. Jeff Creech at Carolina Auto Masters tuned the combo on his dyno. A: A/C is cool, not cold. As I mentioned in the listing, the car has been sitting for a few years. It probably just needs a charge but can't guaranty that's the problem. When I used to drive it on a semi-regular basis it was ice cold, so I assume there is nothing seriously wrong with it. I have stated the problems to the best of my knowledge in the listing. In addition to the A/C, please read the listing description in detail. There is an occasional drop of oil on the floor after the car has been run for awhile, which is to be expected for a car like this with 79K miles that has not been babied. It is probably from the timing cover, which is typical. South Carolina does not have an emissions test. There are no dash lights that stay on when the engine is running. As mentioned, the car is not perfect. If you could find a Trans Am GT that is, you would pay a lot more than this for it.
